They give us the win,but we have to replay the game on our mutual off days(TB,TOR),on Sep11th.

(HOPE) We win because its a new rule ,first year of challenge, and cannot expect the players etc to know all the rules etc..

It's Gibbons who has to know the rule. He was too late to challenge. They could definitely make them re.play it which would suck enormously. Both because we beat a tough opponent at a key time and because the call was wrong to begin with. damn.

I'm not getting in to arguing about pitch selection, but I very strongly disagree with walking Reyes to face Melky. Reyes was without question the weakest hitter due up for the remainder of the inning.

Borderline force situation too. Reyes is fast, they are not going to hold him at first, and he is running on contact with 2 outs.

Can someone fill me in on the protest situation? I missed the game.

Buerhle appeared to have a runner picked off at first. close play but they called him safe. Buerhle was back in the rubber, next batter was in the box and then Gibby called for a challenge. On the review they overturned the call and declared the runner out. But then Maddon complained that the challenge was late.

Game was played under protest. MLB might make them re play the game. :(

They blew it twice....once on the call ,and the other thing.

HAHA LOLOL .... umpires-being made stupider by Selig, and the MLB.

Review system needs to be improved so you're gonna have some growing pains. At the end of the day, they got the chance to correct a wrong call. Along the way, they missed another one, but had they gotten the original call right, they wouldn't have even been in a position to blow the 2nd one.

We'll see what happens, it would be a huge win for TB and its fanboys on this forum as it would get them closer to .500 and to finishing ahead of the Jays which is their happiest of happiest outcome.

I really hope MLB forces a re-play because A) the challenge was illegal, but mostly B) it would be hilarious.

I think the standard MLB front office/review system rule applies here:

If the Blue Jays lost, everyone is happy and the game doesn't have to be replayed. If the Blue Jays win (which they did) apply the letter of the law and force the game to be replayed from the fourth inning onwards.

Simple.

They will rule that the umpires didn't see the pitcher and batter get set. If the umpire didn't know the rule they will likely uphold though

Aren`t the umpires expected to know the rules more than the players?

Shouldn,t they have said..."No you cannot challenge that Gibby, its too late"

Then we would have played on with a T-Bay runner at first.

We could actually get hosed on this after what MLB network guys just said.

this is so unfair to the jays it isn't even funny. they essentially have to win twice in a row because the umpires f***ed up.

Anyways, I doubt MLB forces a replay of the game. To have 2 protests upheld in the SAME WEEK when there hasn't been an upheld protest in 20 years... That would look very bad on MLB.

I believe our protest will be upheld. Pitcher was on the rubber, batter in the box. Timing has nothing to do with the price of tea in China.

Hopefully justice is served here and the protest is upheld.

MLB Might have an out there Gibbons was already on his way out as Escobar was getting in the box. Nice dig by Davidson on Gibby though... "Not a speed merchant"
