Plus Hutch is no guarantee either. I like him a lot but he has been up and dowb since his TJS. Dickey and Buerhle are as close to sure things as it gets but they're mid rotation caliber. I wish they'd added a 1/2 caliber starter either of the last two off seasons. We need multiple guys among Stroman Hutch Estrada to be good in order to have any chance.

You're right man, you're right, lets hope the chips fall our way.

Best Scenario: Estrada #5 starter, Norris and Sanchez both starting in AAA.

Second best scenario: Sanchez #5 starter, Estrada long man, and Norris in AAA.

Most likely scenario: Estrada #5 starter, Sanchez in the pen, and Norris in AAA.

Worst scenario: Norris #5 starter, Sanchez and Estrada in the bullpen. ---> Depth becomes non-existent

how is depth affected if Norris makes the team? That means some other pitcher that would Otherwise make the team gets sent down as depth down the road...

Or cut. Drabek, Redmond, Hendriks, and Barnes are out of options.

Arden Zwelling

Gibbons said he might use Brett Cecil situationally; some nights he closes, others he comes in for the 7th or 8th if situation warrants.

Gibby: "He can get that strikeout. So do you save him till the ninth? If the game's on the line earlier than that, he may be the guy there."

Wow.... Was that a little common sense there....I think maybe.... SAY NO TO CLOSERS!

I really like Gibbons, don't give a f*** what people say.... I'm just going to come out and say it: he's a good manager!

Has a closer by committee ever worked?

I don't think that's what's being proposed. Cecil is very much the closer but in certain situations depending on matchups and leverage, setup and closer could be flipped.

If he actually goes through with that, I'd be amazed. He never did it with Janssen when the situation called for using your best reliever.

Why would you pull your starter in the 3rd when he's only given up 1 run and there are two outs. You're gonna kill your pen the first week of the season if you're doing that.

Have some faith in your starting rotation. ;)

Morrow vs Red Sox 8 walks?

Hutchison, Drabek and Morrow injuries?

Lol the sad thing is i remember that game.........

I think everyone would. Pretty sad game. The nail in the coffin for Brandon Morrow, Blue Jay.

The torn tendon sheath a week later was the dirt, I guess.

Yeah Gibby muttered on about not bringing in Delabar/Cecil because if you bring them in in the 3rd you might as well throw the game.

The key is to not have Chad Jenkins in the roster. Make Gibby's best (worst) available options out of the pen be Redmond or Estrada.

Gibbons never gets credit for his line of thinking and roster management, it's too bad, really.

Morrow might have been the most frustrating Blue Jay ever. Flashes of ace-ness followed by futility and endless injuries.

I remember one stretch he threw THREE complete game shutouts in about 5 weeks. We all thought All Star, Cy Young, 20 game winner is finally here. But nope...

It was a good try nonetheless. The team had very little coming up when AA took over and he went out and got young Major Leaguers like Morrow, Escobar and Rasmus.

Plus, remember, he's diabetic and that may have something to do with his injury-proneness. On the other hand, there are non-diabetics who are also injury-prone.

Anyway...

The extensions to Morrow and Romero was the problem; not giving them a chance. Without those extensions, both guys would have been dumped prior to 2014 (instead the Jays paid them $16.5m in 2014, and another $8.1m to Romero this season). AA gambled that they'd improve or maintain performance, and it went about as badly as possible. I guess he deserves a break due to signing Bautista and Encarnacion.
