- Offer Axford 2yr/$5M deal, even if he pitches similar to last year he is an upgrade on Rasmussen, or Jenkins IMO - He is still over 10K/9IP.

- Offer Carlos Villenueva a $2yr/$10M deal

SP - Stroman, Buehrle, Hutchison, Dickey, Sanchez/Estrada

BP - Cecil, Loup, Estrada/Sanchez, Norris, Villenueva, Axford, Hendiks, Redmond, Jenkins.

WILD CARDS - Delabar, Romero, Drabek

Obviously I would prefer they offer Shields a backloaded 5yr deal, and move two of Norris/Sanchez/Estrada into the pen, but I am not holding my breath...

The 6th and 7th starters on average start 20 games. That's not an insignificant amount. Jays need 1 or 2 reasonable depth starters in Buffalo. Norris is ideal as one of them. I would prefer Sanchez to be the other but suspect he will be in the bullpen and Hendriks will be the other Buffalo depth starter.

#DBacks inquired to #BlueJays about Dioner Navarro, sources say, but talks have not advanced much beyond that. @FOXSports

Cecil, Delgado, and Loup would be a very good pen. That's the guy I would target, but at this point I'd be ok with any return as long as the Jays don't have Navarro on the team next season.

This off-season went from super exciting in November to boring as hell since. At least make a waiver claim or a non-Kawasaki minor league deal. Something, anything!

It's dropped off completely for almost all teams it seems. There's still some BIG names out there too in Shields and Scherzer, and a couple closers with barely a whisper about any of them in the rumors.

I wonder if Chase Anderson would be a low cost acquisition.

I wonder if AA is trying to wait out the market on a guy like K-Rod much like he did with Ervin Santana last year.

Yeah, brought this up too. Would love that.

Dave Stewart saying he is not pursuing another catcher. Hope he's bluffing.

Who am I kidding? Navarro is here to stay. Just have to accept it.

Speaking of Dave Stewart, did anyone catch his quote about how the D-Backs are a "true baseball team" because they don't heavily rely on analytics?

Something could still happen. If not in the offseason something could happen during the regular season. Navarro can still fetch something if a catcher for another team goes down or the value for a hitting catcher gets high during the trade deadline. The Blue Jays, while ideally would like to move him in the offseason, still are in a good position with holding him as well. Worst comes to worst the Jays spent $5M, which may have not been utilized for another player anyways, on a expensive bench bat.

Someone should be fired for saying that in 2015...

Is it just me, or do the "Ortiz, Victorino, Pedroia, Ramirez, Sandoval" featuring Red Sox seem shockingly out of place on that list?

Betts, Bogaerts, Castillo, and Vazquez could be regarded as the best young core in baseball by mid-season.

Astros a lock to break their 2013 Strikeout record. Of the 55 players who had 300 or more PA's and a higher than 24% K rate last season...6 of them are Astros now. Gattis at 24.2 K rate...is only 6th worst.
