BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 What's the dodgers' salary payroll situation? Not sure what your gripe is, but this thread is 62 pages of pretty good discussion. What the f*** do you contribute from up on that pedestal?

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 This thread was fun last year, so let’s do it again. I tried to keep the projected roster at guys who earned a place this year and are likely to make next year’s team. IMO the only virtual locks to not be non-tendered are Lawrie, Francisco, and Hutchison. C – Navarro (5) 1B – Encarnacion (10) 2B – 3B – Lawrie (arb1) SS – Reyes (22) RF – Bautista (14) CF – Gose (nm) LF – DH – 2B/3B – Maicer Izturis (3) OF - John Mayberry Jr. (arb2) 3B - Valencia (arb1) C - Thole (1.75) SP – Dickey (12) SP – Buehrle (19) SP –Romero (7.5) SP - Happ (6.7) SP - Estrada (arb3) SP – Hutchison (arb1) SP – Stroman (nm) RP – Brett Cecil (arb2) RP – Aaron Loup (nm) RP – Todd Redmond (nm) RP - Liam Hendriks (nm) Total = $97.95 million + nm(6) + arb (Lawrie, Mayberry Jr., Valencia, Hutchison, Cecil, Estrada) = approx. $100.95 million + arb (Lawrie, Mayberry Jr., Valencia, Hutchison, Cecil, Estrada) Free Agents Melky Cabrera Colby Rasmus Casey Janssen Other Arb-Eligible Dan Johnson (arb3) Munenori Kawasaki (arb1) Juan Francisco (arb2) Andy Dirks (arb3)
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Bench sucks. Since I don't feel like mathing at the moment, what's the 40 man looking like ATM?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Since I don't feel like mathing at the moment, what's the 40 man looking like ATM? Full after reinstating all the 60 day dl guys
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Full after reinstating all the 60 day dl guys Well, how the f*** is AA going to pick up an army of scrubs off waivers if that's the case?
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Derp. lol. I literally just started using twitter. Give me a break.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Estrada: $5 million reliever. Jesus Christ.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 For what it's worth, Time Dierkes on MLBTR is predicting the Jays sign Melky, Francisco Rodgriguez and Jed Lowrie.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 This club is falling apart, right before my eyes...and I keep laughing. Is this bad? Just hope AA is fired before he trades Pompey, Gose, Stroman, Norris, Sanchez, Hutch and Barreto for washed up veteran bullpen arms

Not ready to make any commitments. #Bluejays #Jays Elite offensive team? Lots of work to do for that.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Or really fast athletes that can't play defense or hit. Like Pompey...
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 My levels of dislike for AA are reaching beyond Clowngello levels ........ I've never disliked someone as much as f***in CLowngello either.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Mike Wilner AA: Deal is about reconfiguring the roster. No question Lind's bat will be missed but we have other areas of need on club. http://i.imgur.com/185ebTB.gif
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I meant more so Bonifacio, Patterson and Reyes. Reyes can definitely hit, his D is pretty brutal, but you can't say he has no hit tool.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I will say, he doesn't have a $22 million hit tool. Few do, but the context was "fast guys who can't hit or field". He can assuredly hit.

Hard to have faith that this FO is capable of making the additions required to get the lineup looking like anything but a turd.

Assuming that this Estrada deal opens up the door for a Happ sell-high, then I like everything they've done. 14M for Lind + Happ turned into like, ~5M for Estrada + Smoak. Bench spot made more flexible because your DH is no longer a platoon player. 9M in funds. Now if they don't spend those funds.... Sounds like they are letting Melky walk too.

Probably more like $7.5 M for Estrada and Smoak. Like $6.5 M in savings, but it's also a considerable downgrade unless Smoak has just been unlucky for a long time. They have a lot of holes to fill to get the roster into something cohesive.

Plus whatever they would get for Happ. Of course, we're assuming Happ will be traded, but we'll have to wait and see.

Estrada should be an upgrade over Happ at lesser cost (assuming Happ is traded, which I get a sense he will be), and I think we'll see a big improvement in Smoak getting out of Seattle (not to the level of Lind with the bat, but he also shouldn't need to be platooned either). When you look at the players who are on the way out (aside from the guys they indicated they'd like to bring back in Melky or relievers), you get Lind, Rasmus, possibly Happ. All players who have had questionable clubhouse makeup. Players seem to get a kick out of Lind, but I don't get a sense that he fits in overly well. Rasmus much less so. Happ made quite a big fuss out of not starting initially, etc. I think this might be more about the clubhouse than anything else. As long as they DO address some things like 2nd base, I really don't have a problem with these moves. They have to follow this up properly though.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Looks like the Jays re-signed Korecky as well.
