o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I don't disagree with this. Lawrie could out play Reyes at Shortstop. There are a lot of players who could out play Reyes. He's been putrid this year. he's only laid out for a ball a couple times and NEVER comes up with it. reyes is one of few starting SS that make Jeter look good. that takes effort.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 His 2014 UZR is terrible though: -6.2 which puts him at 105 out of 108 SS. A win is a win is a win. His defense is obviously terrible, we knew that when we got him. Fact is, he's a slightly above average SS that is more than slightly overpaid. He has not been terrible like o2cui2i said.

Lawrie being the most obvious example. That said, I agree he is not the worst SS in the league. Lawrie, Goins and Kawasaki could all out play him though.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Lawrie is better than Goins on defense at 2B? I doubt it. They are fairly similar though. Can we option Valencia?
flafson Verified Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 You have Valencia, Tolleson, Goins, Kawasaki and Juan.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I think it will be Kawasaki.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 marginally above average shortstop http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1736&position=SS stats dont show how many balls he plays matador and just waves at them as they go by. His range has become horrible and his effort level this year has not been good.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Tolleson could go down but he has had some success against lefties. Goins is really the guy that doesn't fit. Kawasaki has out performed him. sending Kawasaki down would show how f***ing clueless AA really is. Goins has had some good AB lately but Kawa is the better player.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Kawasaki would be a good bench player on any team. He might lose to Goins defense and that would be a mistake. Kawasaki looks fine at second base. Goins "might" get better getting regular AB in AAA. Kawasaki is a player who can sit a couple games and come into a game knowing what he is supposed to do. Pinch hit, pinch run, defensive replacement, sac bunt, fake steal.... lol perfect bench guy and something the jays really need.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I still want to know what Tampa was asking for Zobrist. one of stroman or sanchez most likely.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Who is the guy beside Reyes? Ilike how Sanchez is trying to hide his beer by putting it on the floor

He`s had some good games for us,and plays his heart out for us. The only time they should even consider sending him down is when we are at full health, and even then strong a case could be made for him staying.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Send Goins down, keep Kawasaki
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I like how they say Lind could come back in 2-3 weeks. Looks like it will be right around 4-6 weeks like we all thought in the beginning. Its obviously better than the 6-8 weeks the first doctor said but I feel like they said 2-3 weeks just to make the fans feel better.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Any word on Edwin? I think we can survive without Lind, but Edwin is necessary.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Lawrie at 3rd and Goins at 2nd please. Defense first. Thanks.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 How could you not get those comments? He missed 6 weeks in the middle of the season, and then they bring him back after only 3 games in A ball on a rehab assignment. Whether it's an upgrade or not is kinda the point. The fact that they're so desperate for an upgrade over what they have, that they're willing to rush someone up from a rehab assignment, rather than let them get their ABs and get their timing and comfort level back as one would normally suspect. it's mid season...he's missed 6 weeks. He played 3 games. Kendry's Morales signed june. He didn't have a training camp. He played zero games in the minors. He was in the big league starting lineup right away. Bringing Lawrie back is common sense...I hate extended stretches for players in the minors. If he's healthy, he's healthy. It's been just under 6 weeks since his injury...He should be in the bigs after 3 rehab games and he is.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I'm trying to be f***ing positive, you dink. CHP fail and ban
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Cool story bro. How many accounts did you make?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I could be wrong but calling someone a "dink" does not seem like a bannable offense. It is when you're a repeat offender like you who has done it 100 times before
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 That's nonsense and you know it. You should ease up on your power hungry trigger finger, it won't make the rest of your life any better. No, it just keeps the board more usable/readable Knock it off
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 admin Holy f*** we need the 24 hour wait period man ^
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 You sure this is CHP...there isn't a full novel being posted
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 You sure this is CHP...there isn't a full novel being posted New account immediately targetting Moogy = suspicious Regarless he's spamming the board with crap and deserved banning. Clearly not a legitimate new poster.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I'd rather the mods be too harsh in banning trolls than too light. That said, obviously not a troll.
