Ugh. Those two are at odds with roster moves too many times. If you hire a manager, leave him some autonomy over the 25-man roster. If he thinks he can work around the infield until Lawrie is at full power then let him do it. It's not so much that they are on the same page, but it looks like they draw straws or play rock paper scissors or something. AA shoves Rogers/Santos down Gibbons' throat, he balks at it and wins so those two get the old boot. This time AA wins and they bring up Lawrie even after Gibbons talks to the media, espousing the opposite approach. It just looks like a poorly or at least inefficiently run organization, but this is not news to anyone really.

Any ideas on who gets sent down after Tolleson returns from paternity leave? Id like to say Tolleson but BA vs. LHP may prevent that. Of course, in 3 days Reyes could be on the DL...

I think based on today's lineup Goins is sent down. Goins has good D but since he's been back up he still hasn't even hit well. I mean his BA is the same as his OBP and he doesn't hit for any power so I'm sure this decision should be pretty easy.

 

Edit: just looked up the numbers over the last week and both Kawasaki and Goins haven't hit at all.

With Valencia / Lawrie here I'd say Tolleson is the odd man out over anyone at the moment.

 

Goins was hitting pretty well prior to the Houston series and his infield D is the best the Jays have. I'd keep Goins at 2B and Lawrie at 3B vs RHP (francisco DH) and Lawrie at 2B Valencia at 3B vs LHP (Reimold DH). Kawasaki rides the pine.
