RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Gose is great at seeing pitches and drawing walks. He's really developed well in that regard, he might never hit above .260, but he can be a real weapon offensively (in addition to his D) if he keeps that OBP above .340
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 That's a fair point, but I don't think Bautista has been really comfortable at first and putting Navarro at DH means we have no backup catcher if anything happens to Thole. Well you can use the pitcher in the DH spot if anything happens in the unlikely even that happens.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Well you can use the pitcher in the DH spot if anything happens in the unlikely even that happens. Just think about the idea of Navarro catching Dickey and it all makes sense.

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Not exactly the greatest timing of that post. Hahaha, I was saying that to myself too.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I'm going to need a larger sample size before I'm truly convinced, but if he has learned to take a walk, he's a huge asset. He's always been a "sees alot of pitches" patient approach guy. I remember making a post about this a few years back on the old board, I don't have the stats to back it up (hard to find these things in regards to pitch results in the minors and would require alot of work), but through my observations, the guys who see alot of pitches in the minors tend to have a spike in their OBP once they reach the Majors. Minor league pitchers tend to just try and throw strikes, while MLB pitchers tend to have alot more weapons, and more changeups/breaking balls in their arsenals that land outside of the strikezone. Gose is proving me right, at least in regards to him, and boy once he gets on he has a great habit of coming around to score....
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 WTF ump...4 inches inside
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hes not a scrub... True, I may have exaggerated, but his ERA is kinda high though.
jays76 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Hes not a scrub... Exactly, too many people make the mistake of disrespecting this club. At this level you can't look down at anyone because you can get bit any given night.. or series.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Umps f***in' w/ my Reimold. I don't like that s***.
North of 60 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Gotta wait another 2 innings until we have a chance to score.
