Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 These poor millionaires need to learn that they are in the middle of a business. It's not like they'll never see each other again. You must be a Houston Astro Executive

No he is sad because he just learned that he will have to bat against the Stro-Show about 6 times a season..... Not looking forward to it.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 This is third season in a row he's dropped-off offensively, albeit the previous were less drastic it's still may be an indication of something. He had a 134 wRC+ in 2013, same as Posey and Stanton. #DECLINE
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 He had a 134 wRC+ in 2013, same as Posey and Stanton. #DECLINE Dinger pimping his DDL team hard.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Lackey's only 35 and probably wants to play a few seasons after 2015. I don't see him retiring.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 He had a 134 wRC+ in 2013, same as Posey and Stanton. #DECLINE Actually he has declined every year. And last year was BABIP fueled.
Freeman50 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 He had a 134 wRC+ in 2013, same as Posey and Stanton. #DECLINE I never said he wasn't good in previous seasons, I only said he had a drop-off which holds true. When Pujols declined 2011-2012-2013 with great numbers, it's still a decline of notable mention. #TRUTH
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 May have already been mentioned (didn't read the whole thread), but if you are lackey, don't you consider retirement rather than playing for the min? Just saw spanks post. Yeah, what he said
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Actually he has declined every year. And last year was BABIP fueled. Going from a 137 wRC+ in 2012 to 134 in 2013 doesn't represent a statistically significant decline. And he's always carried a high BABIP (.330 career even now). This year is the outlier in that regard.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Lackey is a proven above average starter who will be making peanuts next year Joe Kelly has extremely average peripherals which will likely only get worse in the AL East Craig is far from a sure thing. Not exactly sure how Boston destroyed the Cards here.

Not exactly sure how Boston destroyed the Cards here. I'd call a career 123 wRC+ a pretty sure thing, and I'm not the only one. Kelly is meh so I agree on that. It's not a steal IMO but the Sox did well on this one, as did the Cards with Lackey's cheap option year.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 There doesn't always need to be a winner in a trade. Good deal for both sides.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 There doesn't always need to be a winner in a trade. Good deal for both sides. But there is always someone who ends up slightly better

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Would you say it's likely Craig progresses to the mean? bait.jpg No. Progression is not the opposite of regression. A very infuriatingly common mistake, much like idiots who say irregardless. Progression/retrogression
