I still believe in Craig's bat to a certain extent, but I don't think he's more than a 2-win player going forward. An okay player but not someone the Cardinals will regret dealing.

If the Cardinals are comfortable sending away Craig, even at that cheap contract, I think they have serious concerns about his health going forward or his ability to go back to his career norms.

Conversely, the pitchers they traded get a boost from their new environments, bandbox for Lester, NL park for Lackey. So at the very least, that boost should be factored as well. These trades will work for both sides. Boston hasn't raped anyone.

$500k Vesting Option. Club option at minimum for 2015 if Lackey misses significant time 2010-2014 due to an elbow injury.

Craig's a tough one for me, a good deal of his home runs are of the centre field and oppo shot variety, not sure how much Fenway will help him, but the upside and control here are very real. Kelly's just garbage.

There was a clause in his contract that if he missed a year with TJS, an extra one would be tacked on for the minimum. He sat out 2012 and the clause was activated. He doesn't have a case to complain about here.

Seems like Cherrington is the Anti-thopoulos, off first impressions we thought we was a dumnass GM when he was trading for guys like Hanrahan and Bailey, and he's been pretty frugal since then. The greek god of gyros has been the exact opposite.
