NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 So everything just gets a thread now? SMH
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 They already had Sam Fuld. Then they lost him on waivers. So essentially, they just gave up Milone on waivers. Granted, he's put up 2.3 fWAR, but if he already had Fuld, this is pretty bad.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Beane went derp on this one. I don't understand it at all.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 @Ken_Rosenthal: Deal between #Athletics and #Twins is straight up. Milone for Fuld. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Don't mean to criticize Beane but what does he see in Fuld
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Ben Nicholson-Smith @bnicholsonsmith ·4 mins #Twins claim Sam Fuld on waivers in April and flip him for a pitcher with a career 3.84 ERA (468.2 IP) a few months later. Nice move.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 One of the worst trades I have ever seen. Lol how good do you think Milone actually is?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Where the f*** was AA? Milone puts up trash numbers in the Collesium what are you talking about
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Milone is a controllable, young lefty who puts up good #'s. If you can get a guy like that for just Sam Fuld, you do it.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Hes a 5th starter but its Sam f***ing Fuld. Hes a controllable lefty who you could get value out of. Terrible trade. He has a 116 xFIP. That's Liam Hendriks s***. Fuld is markedly better.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 How is this a bad trade? If you're gonna knock on the A's for anything, it should be letting Fuld go before he put up 2 wins in the first place. He's been decent against lefties and he's had excellent defense.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 And he's Jewish! That's worth at least a solid 4 wins.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Milone requested a trade and wanted out of Oakland. That lowers his value a little too.

I probably wouldn't agree that it is "pretty bad" though. But ten minutes later in this same thread: He has a 116 xFIP. That's Liam Hendriks s***. Fuld is markedly better. How is this a bad trade? GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 You've got me confused. Yeah, I realized that my viewpoint would be confusing so I'll just state it outright. If you look at the trade in a vacuum, it's a good trade. Fuld > Milone. If you consider the context, Beane should have identified what he had in Fuld before losing him so that he could have dealt Milone for something as well as already had Fuld. Hopefully that's less confusing.

That's kind of how I feel too although I think Milone would have more perceived value around the league (a lot of GM's would see him as a solid #4 wouldn't they?) and could net you more than Fuld, who I think is a fine player, albeit one who has had his struggles in the past.

Exactly. I absolutely could have seen a Franklin/Milone swap.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Exactly. I absolutely could have seen a Franklin/Milone swap. Yeah that wouldn't have surprised me either.
