I don't think Hutch can make it through the whole season and possibly playoffs.
Caper Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Jays need to win the division outright. A wild card vs the Angels and the Angels win that easily. So their only hope is to try and catch Baltimore but unfortunately Baltimore is on fire and could possibly land Lester. Not looking good for the Jays Actually. You'd have an easier time beating the Angels in a one off then a 3 out of 5 or 4 out of 7... or what ever it is.
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 jays imo match up better against Angels then vs. O's or even the Rays... i'm really interested in watching jays vs. Rays/O's & their compete level & discipline over the stretch of a series...

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Just about every team regardless of how much money they spend during the offseason (and 2 offseasons ago) need to upgrade at the deadline. I don't know who's doing the miscalculating here, AA or Rogers, but they should still get a starter. Doubt it will happen, I actually don't think they have enough assets to get a deal done for a top end starter, maybe they can get a guy like Lackey but how much of an upgrade is he really? Exactly! NYY, OAK, STL, others in the same or better position than the Jays are upgrading.

Jays will stretch Sanchez out in the beginning of sept. they are just giving him enough work to keep fresh and be with the team so he has less nerves. he will make some starts in late sept if the jays are truly in a run for the holy grail.

Defintely I too look forward to start a rookie pitcher while trying to win the division In b4 hitters figure out he can't really throw strikes. You know like he hasn't thrown strikes in 5 years of minors pitching.

Very interesting idea to give him some 2-3 inning outings early September. Any idea if he's altered his pitching repertoire by moving to the pen; i.e., has he dropped a pitch in the pen?

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Haven't seen many if any change ups. he's thrown the change, but only a couple. hard to work it in when you only get a couple outs on the mound. I'm sure he's keeping if fresh in his BP sessions. with the way he is being used now, he will have lots of innings left in Sept.
