Its pretty tempting. Having not witnessed playoff baseball in 20 years as a Blue Jays fan I might. How about would you take a 50/50 shot at winning the division but you had no chance of winning the wildcard?

Even with a true ace, if he doesn't line up for the start he likely doesn't go. For a WC showdown a balanced rotation is probably what's needed.

I would imagine teams would be re-arranging their rotation to make sure their aces were rested for WC games. Unless they were in a tight, down to the last day type race, then I could see your point.
