HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 f***ing idiot Phillies. They should be the ones retooling their entire team, not the Red Sox. absurd they haven't moved anything. Same with Dbacks & Colorado
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Bautista probably going batshit right now for lack of trade lol Imagine how pissed he'll be if the Jays fail to make the playoffs.
AlbertaFan Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 This is the closest we have ever been in years to making the post season, Too bad AA wont pick up any reinforcements. At this point I dont care if we trade Sanchez, We need help now. We're going to lose Joey Bats and EE eventually. Such life as a Jays fan I guess.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 18 mins left any deals that need to be made need to be made now -file, sign paper work -notify team players/agents
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I don't f***ing understand how the Phillies don't make a move. They are swimming in huge contracts and if they don't trade them off they are f***ed. Amaro does not play the GM role well
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 My May 30th Prediction July, 2014. Blue Jays GM, Alex Anthopolous met with media today to discuss the recent trade rumours on the market, specially referring to the cost of rental pitchers as discussed back in May. "Ultimately the asking prices are substantially too high and we simply aren't going to make a deal that can hurt this organization. We're not going to make a deal just to make a deal, it has to make sense both financially and for the long term success of the team." The young Blue Jays GM then moved on to discuss other available options to add depth to the rotation. "Since the market is too steep we stepped back and took a strong look at our internal options and felt collectively that Brandon Morrow is the best rental arm within our limited budget. We are confident from our scouts in Dunedin that he's back to 100% and are hopeful he will return to his past 2012 form."

They are swimming in huge contracts and if they don't trade them off they are f***ed. They're delusional on thinking next year they can compete? Perhaps they are asking way too much for a return while expecting someone to pick up most, if not all, the money on some of those contracts. Who knows? You'd think they'd take whatever they can get including some salary relief if they sell someone off.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 12s Done deal: Stephen Drew to the Yankees, as @GordonEdes mentioned. Well he isn't exactly tearing it up this year. Interesting the Red Sox and Yankees made a deal. Boagarts back to SS which is probaby best for Red Sox LT.

Hopefully MLB is the same way
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 The last time a Canadian MLB team was in the playoff hunt at this time of the year? 2003 Montreal Expos. Yet no move by AA? #Depressing lol

Pulk_Pull Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Flip the Jays and Yankees in the standings.... who is still on the 'we have a chance, go for it' bandwagon? There's just too much value to give up to get any tangible improvement this season. I actually appreciate this approach after last season's wild-west. I'm hoping AA can add a so-so RP sometime before the Aug 31st deadline but really, that's all I'm expecting. The only sad part about this deadline is the clear indication and reaffirmation that Rogers has closed the wallet on the Jays for the foreseeable future.

JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 The last time a Canadian MLB team was in the playoff hunt at this time of the year? 2003 Montreal Expos. Yet no move by AA? #Depressing lol Even though we all kind of knew nothing was going to happen, it's probably a bit more disappointing this year since we're a head in the wild card and could take the division yet it doesn't seem like they want to get better and are content with what they have while other teams, who are good, get a bit better. Easier said than done on the trade front, especially since giving up some of the prospects we have left wouldn't make sense in some deals ie a rental who we won't resign but middle of a pennant race, first chance in 21 years to make the playoffs and they seem to think 'getting back to full strength' is like a trade when at full strength it wasn't enough. Not a bad team but unlike the season, from here on out every game counts and especially in the play offs there's no such thing as we've had a bad series we'll get them next time.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 This is a clear indication that there is no will to contend for the WS this year.
JoJo Parker Dunedin Blue Jays - A SS On Tuesday, Parker was just 1-for-5, but the one hit was his first professional home run. Explore JoJo Parker News >
