snowmagician Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 The most boring trade deadline that I could remember

snowmagician Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I am hoping we can pull off a sneaky move and acquire Josh Fields. No need we have won 5 straight If we were falling out of the race it would make sense but since we won 5 straight this team.is clearly a contender And just think about Morrow coming back he is an ace you know. Remember that game against Tampa he struck out 17 batters Getting morrow back is like trading for an ace
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Mid-rotation starter (maybe a Wade Miley or Ian Kennedy type?) and a power pen arm with strikeout stuff (couple vets like Oliver Perez or Glen Perkins wouldn't cost a ton) would be great. I don't think this rotation holds up into late September. One of Hutch/Happ will need to be replaced and Buehrle is fading quickly. Desperately need one more starter.

With the emergence of Stroman though I might just be fine with another solid pen arm. The rotation is looking half decent again. Glen Perkins price is huge. Wade Davis or Kelvin Herrera
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Schowalter after last night's game said matter of factly their pitching has kept the O's where they are... perhaps they are overachieving as a group or perhaps not...but definitely makes sense for the O's to add another mid-rotation starter for further depth...

They are still an asset though and whatever the value is - whether it's overvalued or not - you have to find the best way/time to use them.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 less than 8 hours left until the deadline. I just hope that AA doesn't do anything Colossally stupid. Standing pat with what he has right now is NOT the worst thing he could do. I don't think any big deals are going to.happen today. Lester and Price stay put. Deals should have happened already.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I have a feeling we won't do much. Maybe a bullpen arm to satisfy AA's fetish.
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 not sure what Boston is asking for Lester but even if it's 1 top prospect, Boston should do it...
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Norris for Lester pls with the sudden emergence of Smoral I'm feeling comfortable trading him away

John Henry has his head firmly stuffed up his ass and is asking way too much. not sure what team would be silly enough to give away two mlb ready players for 2 months of Lester.

If one prospect becomes a star then it really makes the deal worth it for the team trading the mlb plaher. But it definitely doesnt always work out that way. I would love to see the Jays able to trade for a controllable, elite player. AA has shown a great ability to build up a farm system again quickly.

He's not. There is precedent. Go look at the Mark Teixeira trade with Atlanta Texas got their two top prospects at the time - Salty & Andrus And on top of that they got Feliz & Harrison. + some other scrub that didn't pan out. All it takes is one team to overpay.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Norris for Lester pls with the sudden emergence of Smoral I'm feeling comfortable trading him away Eww. There are controllable players out there to trade for. Give up more and get one of them if we are trading Norris. If yoi trade for someone that has a couple years then we'll have new guys to take over by the time they leave.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 ·6m Hear the #Bluejays are pursuing NO bats, not even 2b. Totally in on pitching This is good. With the three reinforcements coming I think our line-up/defense has been settled. Our 2B is resolved if we put Lawrie there and our 3B can be platooned. Odd man out of Kawa/Tolle/Goins? Tough

Alright well the only two that are just as good and controllable in different degrees are the two other aces - Price & Hamels. Hamels unfortunately is a no go due to salary, but Price..the Rays man...

Well that trade is one of few where the prospects end up looking like a massive haul - certainly an outlier as no one would have predicted it going so well for Texas. Boston has every right to ask for top prospects, Lester is their asset right now and as you say it just takes one team. As to whether they drop their asking price today, we shall see

Tough Lawrie's defense is way more valuable at 3B. This is obvious watching the game and reinforced by stats. There is zero reason for Lawrie to play 2B now that are 2Bare playing well.
snowmagician Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I wonder if AA can even add 3-4m or is it so bad that he has to.match money to money
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Alright well the only two that are just as good and controllable in different degrees are the two other aces - Price & Hamels. Hamels unfortunately is a no go due to salary, but Price..the Rays man... Id be going for Price. Giving up three good prospects would hurt but remember if we arent in it next trade deadline we can get at least one back in a trade and if he keeps us in the hunt then walks we get a 1st round pick. Id go for it since I think in two years we will have a few more pitchers ready to from the minors.
snowmagician Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 How does everyone feel about Grienke for Dranek and Snider. Good thing we didn't do that deal considering Drabek is going to be a young controllable started for years to come leading our rotation.in 2013 to 2017. Snider is a young controllable power bat hard to find. Future.MVP Please AA don't acquire Grienke and sacrifice the future!!
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 ..anyways Ludwick is now available, but I don't think he's a good option for us. We have a cheaper and just as good option in Reimold.
