DH12 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I am tired of the media in Toronto and elsewhere saying the East is weak and this is the reason the Jays should go for it this year. Tampa has outstanding pitching and soon will be moving up the standings. Boston has an overall better lineup than the Jays and so does Baltimore. They Yankees are pretty good too. The only thing right now that looks weak in the east are the Jays lineup with all the minor league call ups
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Well it is weak in the way that the teams all have lower win records than in previous years. The winning team will win 85-88 games most likely.
North of 60 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Blue Jays will be in the basement the way things are going.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 To prove the AL East is not weak you would have to compare east teams to the rest of the American league. How does comparing east teams to the Jays prove your point? If you want to troll at least do it right.
DH12 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 I should clarify toronto media is saying the rest of the east teams are weak in comparison to the Jays. This is nonsense. As we are seeing the other AL east teams are quickly rounding into form while the Jays are doing their usual swan dive as the Jays start to play more meaningful games late in the season
Rajais Mitten Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I think you're kinda right in saying its not weak. The reason media around the league is saying this really is because the Yankees and Red Sox aren't these power houses they usually expect them to be which makes the division look weak, I will say there is a lot more parity in the division that's for sure which just makes it look weaker than normal because the usual two teams people think of when you talk about the AL East haven't ran away with the division yet.

This. When New York and Boston aren't at the top, the division is suddenly weak...
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 It is weak, we're just the weakest team of the bunch.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 It is weak, we're just the weakest team of the bunch. Tampa and Boston hold that mark. Remember too we're dealing with injuries. By next week or so, we'll have most of our roster back.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 The division is collectively 3 wins over .500. In previous years it would usually finish in the +50 range.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 AL East is NOT WEAK!!! http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/777794/you-no-say-ukraine-is-weak-o.gif

comeon sense Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Media says stupid s*** to motivate all the teams to try their best. Its only weakened because of all the injuiries, and depleted rosters.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I should clarify toronto media is saying the rest of the east teams are weak in comparison to the Jays. I don't think anyone is actually saying that. What they are saying is, the east is up for grabs. Which it is. But I think New York is weak. Look, they've lost Sabathia for the season, and who knows when Tanaka is back in the rotation? That's a big loss for them. And as good as the Rays and Red Sox have been playing, they're still several games under .500.

Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 No, you're thinking of Art Corvelay.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 f***ing O's still winning in Anaheim right now. Can't wait to get EE and Lawrie back; then the real race will take place.
DH12 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 I was just thinking about that. Toronto media was playing up baltimores tough upcoming road trip. Well I think Baltimore will actually do well on that road trip. The Jays look like they will be behind Baltimore for a long time. Baltimore is playing consistently good baseball.

They are consistently good and getting better
