Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 #clearlyrushed Sanchez 1 Syndergaard 0 Alex is a genius!!
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 So we're officially throwing in the towel I gather?? I would say the opposite. This is clearly a move made out of desperation.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 The idiocy of calling Sanchez up has been discussed to death... but... Goins...? Kawasaki has been a fine fill-in and Reyes isn't going anywhere. ....Why?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Anyone understand the rationale for Goins? I may not agree with Sanchez but I could see why AA might think he can help as a releiver but what's the point of Goins? He's not an improvement over Kawa. Is he going to play 2B and push Kawa to third against righties? Spell Reyes?
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I'm not as against this as the rest of the world apparently. Who else are you gonna use out of the bullpen that you're more confident in as a potential longman? Mills - no. Hendriks - no. Call Delabar back? Sanchez has the most upside of anyone available and has had better control as of late so even if it's not ideal, WTF, I look forward to watching him

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Goins over Francisco? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IH5fAABiVLE/UUEpjsuTI6I/AAAAAAAAEJk/AXfG2QiK3lM/s1600/AJTG7.gif
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 AA is making it up as he goes along. Doesn't look like theres a real plan that they are sticking to. That said, every GM has to roll with the punches as the season progresses, so you make the best moves as you see fit at the time. Looks like he has decided to copy the Cardinals decisions with Rosenthal, Martinez, Wacha, and Miller. If it works out with these guys like it did with the Cardinals pitchers...we'd all take it.

As for Sanchez, it seems it would make more sense to see how effective he can be in shorter stints. Seems like a waste to start his service time just to use him in low leverage situations.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Tolleson going on Paternity leave, so looks like Goins is a short term thing.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Goins may be short term as Tolleson may be headed for 3 day paternity leave.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Tolleson going on Paternity leave, so looks like Goins is a short term thing. Makes sense. The Sanchez call up is likely meaning Mills has been DFAd as expected.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 why the f*** did we call up goins? is he gonna play third or some s*** now?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Tolleson going on Paternity leave, so looks like Goins is a short term thing. O.K. He's the only infielder on the 40 man so it only makes sense to call him up.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 O.K. He's the only infielder on the 40 man so it only makes sense to call him up. Time to burn Andy Burns
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 O.K. He's the only infielder on the 40 man so it only makes sense to call him up. I can only pray he doesn't go 2 for 3 and it revitalizes the "can Goins stick" debate.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I can only pray he doesn't go 2 for 3 and it revitalizes the "can Goins stick" debate. It resurrects itself periodically independantly of that. I'm pretty surprised Gruber92 hasn't chimed in yet. This is the biggest Goins news in awhile.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Time to burn Andy Burns Burns has yet to get to AAA.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
