Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 We should deal Dickey for a B prospect... I'm sure someone would take an innings eating arm with no injury risk on his contract. Then roll the dice with Sanchez/Mills, and deal for Prado.

Alex must act wisely and be guided by those who know the game better. Trade Reyes and/or Buehrle (Angels, Tigers, Braves, Giants) and the team will be better in this season.

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I'd do this Gets rid of Thole too Yeah... I mean Dickey is pretty much a #4 or 5 at this point anyway. The tradeoff in production wouldn't be that much worse in Mills/Sanchez, but we'd get a bat that could help everyday in Prado. Obviously I prefer the team to not be "broke", but if this is how they are approaching the TD, then they have to be creative. f*** Dickey.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 We should deal Dickey for a B prospect... I'm sure someone would take an innings eating arm with no injury risk on his contract. Then roll the dice with Sanchez/Mills, and deal for Prado. What's the objective of this? Gains us nothing except cost of RA which includes Thole spot. Is the tap that tight that's what stands between us and prado? Exposes us to risk that mills / Sanchez flop in rotation. Aside from the JPA dagger RA has been quite good lately. Wouldn't lose it over this move but don't see it as that helpful?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 Problem is as much as Reyes is overpaid, who do we play at SS even if we acquire a 2B? Reyes 371 PA: 1.4 fWAR (2.28 fWAR - 600 PA) for ~21M AAV <-------- Very easy to replace. Next year, Reyes will be our personal Judas (ALA Kemp, Wells)
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Problem is as much as Reyes is overpaid, who do we play at SS even if we acquire a 2B? I heard this guy named Ryan goins has a mad WAR glove.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I heard this guy named Ryan goins has a mad WAR glove. Don't even... LOL

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Don't even... LOL Haha! Thought I might get you to bite on that. We opened this season with gambles on Sierra and goins. Could they have gone any worse out of the gate?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Haha! Thought I might get you to bite on that. We opened this season with gambles on Sierra and goins. Could they have gone any worse out of the gate? Horrible experiment Ridiculous that we didn't get a real 2B last off season I could have even handled the gamble of Sierra as 4th OF/RH bench bat if they had filled the ever-so-obvious hole at second
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 If Reyes was making 14-15M and playing 2B I don't think we'd have anything to complain about 16M + (22M x 4) = 20.8M AAV
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 16M + (22M x 4) = 20.8M AAV He got 10 Mil the first year which you conveniently omitted. 10+16+(22X4)-3 = 18.5. Thanks for skewing the facts. The last year is an option with a 4 mil buyout so they could go 10 + 16+44+26-3 = 18.6 for 5 years instead of 6.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Problem is as much as Reyes is overpaid, who do we play at SS even if we acquire a 2B? Yep we need middle infielder help bad. You guys all know AA is not giving up on the season yet either so this would never happen.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I still have tons of interest in Barney and think he could be had for Drabek. Cubs have Alcantara and Boni coming back.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Barney could likely be had for Angel Rojas

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Barney could likely be had for Angel Rojas nice troll but he is hitting 104 wRC+ against lefties this year. 89wRC+ in his career with GG defense. Platoon him and Kawa and Tolleson and Juan and you'll be ok. Also I'd look at John Mayberry from the Phils. Has a career 128 wRC against lefties and can play some 1B and outfield. RAJ will trade guys who have bad years in heart beat he's very reactionary. These cheap moves could help dramatically.

He honestly could probably be had for like John Stilson at most. I'd like it.

I'd like it. The thing is i like Stilson better then Drabek. He's better, hasn't had 2 TJ's and has options i believe. Drabek has to be running out of options at this point and he's in the pen now anyways.
