jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Barry Davis @SNBarryDavis 1m Chad Jenkins sent to AAA Buffalo to make room for Brad Mills. #bluejays Most likely Jenkins is down to get work.. he's getting nothing with the big club right now.

Mills, McGuire, Jenkins... It's former prospect musical chairs.
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Brad Mills at the Rogers Centre 2011 : 1.5 WHIP 2010 : 1.548 WHIP 2009 : 2.5 WHIP This is a great move guys, Expect a lot of baserunners. This guy is beyond garbage. 80MPH fastball, you think Dickey's fastballs go a long way, just wait till you see the Rangers and Redsox put some dingers in the upper deck Prediction : Brad Mills will blow a game for the Jays on this homestand, where he will come in with a 4 to 5 run lead. He will cost the bluejays 1 win before he is sent back to Buffallo F**K you AA, you lazy pig.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Mills, McGuire, Jenkins... It's former prospect musical chairs. Of course, Jenkins mostly was pitching in mop up duty, and with underwhelming stuff. Jays probably preferred to have another lefty in the pen, and one who can go multiple innings to go along with Todd Redmond. Could be a bad sign for Santos and McGowan.. especially with Sanchez expected up within the next two weeks.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Really? Might as well have him turn around and throw the ball over the LF fence.

Honestly He is so garbage its not even funny. There are so many options i would take before this guy. It really makes me question AA Unless Cecil is about to be trade or Loup

Brad Mills throws on average: Fastball 87.4 mph Changeup 78.9 mph Cutter 73 mph FC 81.2 mph He has had an uptick in his velocity, and had good results in AAA with the Brewers system. (4-2, 1.56 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) Mills isn't the same pitcher he was in 2011. And did you even see his starts with the A's recently? Only reason he was let go was due to the Shark/Hammel trade, which also got Pomeranz and Milone sent to AAA.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 This is a great move guys, Expect a lot of baserunners. This guy is beyond garbage. 80MPH fastball, you think Dickey's fastballs go a long way, just wait till you see the Rangers and Redsox put some dingers in the upper deck He throws harder than Buehrle (at least this year). Velocity probably isn't the best thing to look at. Mills main problem in those starts with us was the walks. Actually it's interesting that his velocity has ticked up quite a bit this year. If he was coming out of the pen rather than starting and could add another 2 mph or so, he might make a pretty good reliever with that big curveball. Regardless, this is really a nothing move as he's just keeping the spot warm for Sanchez coming up and allowing Jenkins to get some work in. Certainly no reason for anyone to be upset about it.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 The hate for Mills seems really, really over the top. The guy has a decent strikeout rate, much better than Jenkins. It's not a great pickup exactly but it's not a terrible one. He can get guys out and be serviceable. As far as losing McGuire goes, that really should be a non-issue. He likely goes unclaimed and good luck to the team that claims him otherwise.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 This is f***ing stupid.... this is only happening because the A's had him in their rotation!!!!!!!!! No, it's because he showed improved stuff in the Brewers system, and was an upgrade over Chad Jenkins. And he will come out of the pen, most likely. It means we now have 3 lefties in the pen now.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 He's the infamous $1 pitcher now.

He will not get away with them at the band box that is Rogers Centre

AAA numbers really dont mean anything, just look at Liam Hendricks. Mills is garbage, and he will blow a game for the Jays before being DFAd. Ive seen this a million times over, same old song. 20 years of baseball Ive seen garbage pick up like these cost us games
abola2121 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I'm beginning to think that Ricciardi is secretly giving orders to AA.
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Problem is that AA is too stubborn. He thinks he is right on guys no matter. Rasmus is an example, he went to ridiculous lengths to pick him up. Mills being drafted was probably AA's work as well. He refuses to give up on guys, until he burns the major league club JPR put together some decent teams. The teams he put together in 2007/2008 would have won us the division this year, and the wild card in most years. He was unlucky in that Mcgowan fell apart and Marcum got hurt. Further he was unable to pick up Bonds, which would have taken this team over the top, due to Rogers/MLB

He will not get away with them at the band box that is Rogers Centre I'll admit his fly ball percentage is high (though not as high as Todd Redmond's). He's not a perfect fit by any stretch but all he's being asked to do is be more useful than Jenkins and by that very modest measure, he should be fine.
