Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Stroman xFIP 2.99 I was going to post that as soon as his fangraphs page loaded.
S33n Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Don't care about his value. They better not trade him. the more he's worth the better he's performing. highest value plz.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Lol @ the thought of Jeter at SS after Ryan leaves his mark.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Damn Gibby letting Stroman continue.
S33n Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Damn Ryan is slick. Oh, thats Brenden Ryan? Im watchin w/out sound too busy listening to the Dead Kennedys. I remember how big of aprospect he was with St Louis back in '08ish, at least his glove panned out.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I don't want him traded either, unless it's a rape. Stroman and Hutch should be untouchable this year unless its a straight rebuild scenario. Trading either would create 2 holes in the rotation and not addressing the major hole which is Happ
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Not even the great Brendan Ryan can stop SpeedyGose!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Gose, do that 100% of the time.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Lol @ the thought of Jeter at SS after Ryan leaves his mark. shh before yankee fans hear about this
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Chop and run. Chop and run.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Stroman seemed to get a fair amount of swinging strikes too, including a bunch of chases. He's been very good peripheral-wise all season. He gets swinging strikes on both pitches, has good control of three pitches, gets ground balls... he's doing everything to quiet the "he can't start" doubters.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Huff saved their pen tonight. Kind of annoying but whatever.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Gose, do that 100% of the time. Even with his speed weak choppers aren't exactly something to strive for...
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Even with his speed weak choppers aren't exactly something to strive for... Contact. Just put the ball in play and he'll be successful.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Over/under on Stro pitching to all 3 batters?

IIRC he had at least 3 pitches that he was getting whiffs on, including the changeup, slider/curve/sluver and the cutter/sharp slider, and I would argue that his fastball was also getting swings and misses.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Height doesn't measure heart! He probably has an enlarged heart though, he should be in the bullpen.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Height doesn't measure heart! The lack of plane on his fastball is supposed to most affect his ability to get ground balls (and avoid home runs), isn't it? That hasn't been a problem at all.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Jesus we needed this game badly. Outstanding job by everyone tonight.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Damn... this keeps up and he can pitch the 9th
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Damn Gibby letting Stroman continue. He's young and strong.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 2 pitches 2 outs, stro can do it all
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 IIRC he had at least 3 pitches that he was getting whiffs on, including the changeup, slider/curve/sluver and the cutter/sharp slider, and I would argue that his fastball was also getting swings and misses. Yeah I don't know why I said 'both' lol. He can manipulate the speed and break of his breaking ball and gets whiffs no matter the amount of each. Changeup seems to be more of a show-me pitch at the moment, but that doesn't mean it's not quality (just doesn't need to use it often).

That hasn't been a problem at all. I think along with the offspeed it's really helped that he has been able to cut the fastball and also add some running 2-seam movement on it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Stroman 104 pitches Finish the 8th then done

Don't argue since it's not arguable, he blew at least 1 by McCann for one of his K's.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
