TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 so you think they should go with no bench? they dont have one now. they switch between 3 and 4 below replacement players on the bench. This is evident once ANYONE gets hurt. there are warm bodies on the bench and that is not good enough. Health is a constant flux during 162 game season. Gibbons cant rest key players because he has nothing but s*** AAAA players on the bench. sure they'd do in a pinch, but they are going to get way too many AB during the course of the season. team is not good enough. Doesn't matter. Irrelevant to this discussion. Can't even mention injury, or else you're just making excuses for AA.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 And if you know that it's not good enough, why even follow it? seriously? So I can only follow a team once I feel they are good enough to win everything? lol dont be silly. I guess 20 team's fans should just get a different past time?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 against lefties if Bautista is hurt...this could be an ugly lineup. Especially if Gose gets the call. Haven't looked who they face but it shouldn't be a big deal against the Yanks Glenn will be the guy who Alex will call up. He suck but our FO is awful
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Kratz PH. Bullets by Chapman incoming.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Chapman has thrown a couple ones way high. Take the BB here if you can, Kratz...
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 seriously? So I can only follow a team once I feel they are good enough to win everything? lol dont be silly. I guess 20 team's fans should just get a different past time? Worded that wrong, should've said 'why get all up in arms about it?'. I don't see a great team, but did pick them to win 85. I don't see the other teams as being that much better where I would say this team just isn't good enough, but to each his own. Anyway....
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Doesn't matter. Irrelevant to this discussion. Can't even mention injury, or else you're just making excuses for AA. and that's where you lose it. injuries are not irrelevant. they always have to be taken into the equation. You cant plan for every injury, but you have to plan for having some and at bare minimum have back ups who are at least replacement level players so you can rest your best players.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I wonder if it's ever happened that a team used catchers as back to back pinch hitters? I'm guessing that even in 40 man expansion that's never happened
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Good patience at the plate. Chapman has thrown more than hed like so far.

Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Tabler and Buck went on and on in the first game about how Chapman would be out for many games because of all the pitches he threw.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Damn. Chapman was dealing, at the end.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Being a Jays fan is so fun! At least we got a fun May. We are STILL in first place!....jesus.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 have to root for the Os to beat the yanks...
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 the Yankees are totally going to sweep us again. f***ing bums.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 and that's where you lose it. injuries are not irrelevant. they always have to be taken into the equation. You cant plan for every injury, but you have to plan for having some and at bare minimum have back ups who are at least replacement level players so you can rest your best players. Doesn't matter. According to Hurl, injuries are just an excuse. On a more serious note, I don't know if you get what "replacement level" means, but Francisco (1.2 WAR), Lind (1.2 WAR), Gose (1.0 WAR), Tolleson (0.3 in 80 PA), Kratz (0.3 in 70 PA) is NOT a below replacement bench. The only players that have been at or below replacement level are Thole (who only catches for Dickey), Kawasaki (who's only had 8 games) and Navarro (who I agree is terrible, but constantly performs well in clutch situations).
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 have to root for the Os to beat the yanks... Why? Blue Jays ain't good enough anyway.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 the Yankees are totally going to sweep us again. f***ing bums. I disagree. Stroman's revenge. Hutchison suck at home
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 We are STILL in first place!....jesus. Are people really still this homeristic from that fluke May that they need to physically see the team drop out of first before waking up to how bad they've been sucking?
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 We are STILL in first place!....jesus. I think the two big injuries are more the issue. We'll have to wait to see how it plays out. Right now it just feels like someone is playing a cosmic joke on us. Cosmic Jokers - "Oh your still in first and have hope?? Let's take away 2 of your best players... we don't like to see you guys have hope."

The only players that have been at or below replacement level are Thole (who only catches for Dickey), Kawasaki (who's only had 8 games) and Navarro (who I agree is terrible, but constantly gets hits in clutch situations). Gose Defense carries him short term, but his bat wont keep him at a plus number. Navarro is lazy and one of the worst framers in the league. add in his noodle arm and he is a waste of space. Kratz should be catching more. he's a better framer, has a canon and calls a better game. Lind has had a great year against RHP and been good back up at first to give Ed a day off now and then. thole is horrible and I have no idea why he and dickey need a private room. Dick thinks of Thole like a lucky charm to bring back his Cy year. wish he'd move on so the team can stop carrying an extra appendage that it has no use for. Tolleson is a scrub. he's not good enough on either side of the ball. he's a guy who you have on the bench in case someone gets hurt in the middle of a game. he's going to see too many AB with Lawrie out. discussion over. we'll agree to disagree...
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Why? Blue Jays ain't good enough anyway. because that's what fans do. give it a rest
