Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 BlueJays 1m The @BlueJays option RHP LIAM HENDRIKS and recall LHP ROB RASMUSSEN from @BuffaloBisons (AAA)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Can you merge the threads regarding Rasmussen's callup? I was a bit slow getting the news up.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Hendriks has made his last major league last start of 2014 I suspect
SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 sorta needed that LOOGY outta the pen...would like to see Ayala eventually...seems to be rounding into form in AAA finally.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Hendriks has made his last major league last start of 2014 I suspect Bet we see Drabek or Sanchez next time a starter is needed before Morrow returns(Nolin is injured.)
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Hendriks has made his last major league last start of 2014 I suspect You might be right. Drabek next?? I would say Nolin, but is he still hurt?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Bet we see Drabek or Sanchez next time a starter is needed before Morrow returns(Nolin is injured.) Drabek yes Sanchez no They won't call him up this year I can't imagine
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 You might be right. Drabek next?? I would say Nolin, but is he still hurt? 4.81 FIP 3.0 BB/9 and 6.2 K/9 in AAA this year I believe I heard his last month has pretty good though??
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 Esmil still alive. Maybe McGuire
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Drabek yes Sanchez no They won't call him up this year I can't imagine I think we see Sanchez as a September call up for the bullpen. I don't think we see him start a game until 2015 though.

They (surprisingly) didn't call up Stroman last September even when the season was long over Don't know why they'd do it with Sanchez this year
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Does this team ever lose when Hendricks starts? First I thought you were joking, but I forgot he managed a no-decision in the other game he blew up in, and in the other game he pitched he kept giving up 370 foot fly balls that miraculously stayed in the yard He's terrible but is sporting a 1-0 record. LOL

Would give the Jays another live arm. Obviously this all depends on how Sanchez pitches for the next few months though.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Rasmussen looked insanely nervous last time up. Stuff looks OK though. If he can cure the butterflies you never know. Maybe a Scrabble type of guy.

We all know Alex's affinity for keeping garbage around on our team and not outrighting them to AAA like Rogers etc. I expect Delabar (if not already called up), Drabek, Wagner, Gose, and possibly Goins all recalled as September call-ups.

There's no upside to exposing Sanchez at the MLB level. He should have been traded after his strong AFL season. He was hyped up good at that point.

Key22 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I missed the game but the highlights showed a couple of bloop hits doing the main damage on Hendriks. A bloop just passed Kawasaki and a dunker just in front of Melky. Was he as bad as the numbers?

A bloop just passed Kawasaki and a dunker just in front of Melky. Was he as bad as the numbers? Defense was pretty awful as well, that blooper that fell behind Kawasaki I think came with the infield in which came after a passed ball by Navarro moved the runner from 2nd to 3rd, I could be misremembering though.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 If he continues his solid AAA numbers I disagree. That's the problem. his AAA numbers have been good. But both callups he was terrible. By the time they need someone again and have maybe seen enough good AAA starts from him, I'd suspect guys like Drabek and Nolin may have passed him on the depth charts.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Reds called up prospect Carlos Contreras to help the bullpen, and cut Roger Bernadina. No idea how available the arms in our bullpen are today outside of Redmond, who is definitely unavailable.
