How long have you watched this game? Honest question.

Maybe you're not as passionate for the Jays as I'am

I like where this is going.

I've watched this game since the Shawn Green Days. Maybe you're not as passionate for the Jays as I'am, but when they lose I get bummed out. When they lose s***** games, I get pissed off. And when they play sloppy like they have in the past 2 weeks, I start to question if the weakness isn't temporary.

As I said before, I'd be content if we lost 10 games in a row, and in all those 10 games we played quality baseball. But all our losses have been pretty pathetic baseball.

Sorry to step into the positivity thread with negativity. I'll bow out. Maybe we should have a thread for something inbetween

I get bummed when they lose and then I remember the season has 162 games. There will be ups and downs and sometimes the ups will be great and the downs will be terrible, but when you take a step back it's easy to see a 10 or 15 game stretch does not make a season.

Don't get me wrong, it's great to be passionate about your team, but all I am saying is look at the big picture. This team may not be good enough to contend down the stretch, but let's give them a chance before throwing in the towel, especially when they are still in an excellent position in the standings while enduring a horrid slump.

They were good enough to get themselves in a position to endure this terrible stretch and still remain in first. That's all I have to say.

Let's not forget, that the second wild card may be the Jays' saving grace this year.

True. It's a great fallback, but this team needs to take the division. They will bounce back.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up hope for the division. But as you said, it is a great fall back.

Agreed. The playoffs will be easy to make.

in a couple of weeks they will be 3-5 back, and then even more closer to the deadline so we won't have to pretend this is a playoff caliber team.

Stroman and Hutch are young and might be good.

Lawrie could have a good second half.

So could Rasmus....

What's your deal? If you want to act like a troll I will treat you like one. Respect the thread theme.

This whole place has been filled with negativity lately, thought a change of pace would be nice. The Jays are in first place which most if not all of us didn't think would happen by this point in the season. While this latest slide has been s*****, this team still remains atop the division. We have swept the A's, Tigers, Red Sox, and Rays, while only being swept once up to this point, which is quite nice.

Hutch has recovered from his injury and has emerged as a promising young arm that looks to be a potential top of the rotation contributor at minimal cost. Stroman finally got his chance and has looked promising as well and provides a solid young duo alongside Hutch for our rotation for the next several years. Buehrle is more than earning his salary which many thought was an albatross of a contract and has now become an easily moveable asset should AA want to make some bold moves in the off season. We still have Sanchez and Norris is emerging strong through the system, not to mention Nolin who looks like he could be another cheap young option (back end).

Assuming AA doesn't make any trades (doubtful), this team has a young core of SP to transition into the next phase after many of our larger contracts begin to expire. The Jays had a great draft and the system looks really strong at the lower levels and should start moving up the rankings over the next year or so.

I can go on, but the point of this thread is to quit being so negative and look at some of the positives. This team is in contention, we have a few nice young pieces, some expiring contracts and a farm that will rise again. Let's be positive going into tonight's game, rather than being defeatist losers.

Good stuff. Totally agree on the young pitching. I just hope AA doesn't give it up for some rental or older pitcher.

Another 6-4 stretch soon and they'd again be close to 10 games over .500. Let's hope it starts soon so they can go into the AS break with some momentum.

Agreed. This team is much better than what they have shown recently and the offence looks like it's starting to come back to life.

I think it might be better for the franchise if AA went after solid, and cheap, but unspectacular moves at the deadline, but I've been hoping for this since the off season. We'll see.

Hammel. Do it AA.

Quick list of positives: hutch, stroman, barreto still hitting, Norris in god mode, Pompey hitting well, SS seasons starting well, great draft, we drafted position players lots of young arms with potential.

We have good jerseys, a cool logo and good colors.

And through all these ups and downs just remember: it can't be worse than last year.

This f***ing team. How do you even come back from a deficit that big?

With heart. My thread just goes to show how far positivity can go. Even if they don't win, this is the best game they have played in weeks. Coincidence? I think not.
