NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Hopefully they call up Rasmussen. He looked like a decent LOOGY at the very least.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Hopefully Lawrie is really okay. The drop off from him to any of our alternatives would be catastrophic.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Jeff Simmons @realjeffsimmons John Gibbons says Steve Delabar will come back to replace Brett Cecil on @FAN590 Short term panic move. WTF man. Delabar obviously has mechanical issues and should be in AAA for a few weeks to work out the kinks. Literally makes no sense to call him back up.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 just shows they have no position players to call up.

Rasmussen died last night and Stilson is sick with diarrhea
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 But Delabar was an All Star last year... Doesn't matter if he can't hit the side of a bus from 60ft. He's a name, and our mentally soft players don't wanna feel like we're giving up... Come on guys...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Here is where AA acquiring no depth this past winter is going to hurt.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 just shows they have no position players to call up. One of Gose, Pillar or Mastroianni should have been called up to act as a 4th OF.
Convo Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Oh to be on the merry-go-round that is pushed by Alex Anthopolous, such a joy!
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Sounds like this was one of those moves where you have a guy hurt, where you don't want to DL him right away but send someone else down to call up depth elsewhere only to DL the player after buying some more time and basically cancelling the option move because you're bringing that player back before he even really gets to the minors? Could that have been by design or just the mess that wound up happening?

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Really, really hate this move to recall Delabar.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Where the s*** is our GDT? Maybe this year, fatcow will f*** up the losing streak. It's worth a shot.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Buck Martinez "Delabar opted to go home for a few days, rather than reporting to Buffalo. He received a call a couple days later that he would be brought back up" That sounds like grounds for an outright release.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I guess it's safe to say Delabar is going back down. If Lind and/or Lawrie are healthy, it will be Kawasaki or one of the catchers. It's too bad because Delabar really has no business with the big club.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Jays can't cut Delabar now, they made a 30 minute special about his struggles. Also the fathers day circle jerk.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Here is where AA acquiring no depth this past winter is going to hurt. He's got Drabek sitting down in Buffalo hardly walking anyone. Three straight bad outings in April are hurting his numbers. (8 BB in his last 41 innings, k's are down with just 29 k's though). He's out of options next year and they obviously aren't considering him for a starting role so why not bring him up and let him throw as hard as he wants in the pen. We have depth...f*** the Bobby Korecky's of the world use your starter depth in the pen.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 a nice cocktail of red bulls and cocaine goes a long way to fighting pain.
