One would be remiss without stating that Boyd and Cole are both old for the level,... But in the case of Cole who went on his Mormon mission for two years after being drafted and didnt throw a baseball for those two years, he's now just getting his full arm strength and velocity back. Last year and the year before he was only pitching in the mid to high 80's, this year he's getting back up into the low 90's

NH's bats are horrible. Flores is okay, Jimenez is trash/a bust/a trashy bust, Burns is playing like s***, etc. Their only legit hitter is Schimpf, who really deserves a promotion ffs, and Fermin and Mesa have started off hot. Everyone else is pretty trash.

As expected, Norris promoted after the ASG. Well deserved, he's been on a roll since mid 2013.

 

What I want to know is why Cole hasn't been promoted. He's been dominant and is older so I figure they'd be aggressive with him?

That's true. I think Graveman was promoted from Lansing to Dunedin earlier in the year so at least that's one.

The point was being , if one of those arms stepped up it would be a lot easier to replace Norris + Boyd + Cole in Dunedin. I suppose they could demote Bibens Dirkx or Copeland..

 

Or just keep on keeping on demoting Romero wherever a paper weight is needed!

There's hope for Sanchez. More pitchers than you'd think struggle mightily in the minors before figuring it all out after a half-dozen pro seasons.

 

It's not impossible, absolutely. But the question is, what's the mean production for guys with that output and how many real success stories are there? We have a couple, Halladay and Shark, but there have been thousands of flame outs in MLB history obviously.

Oh I agree with you guys. I'm just saying that control is a strange thing and pitchers improve non-linearly. There's a real chance that Sanchez wakes up one day and has it.

 

I Hope so, but I think he has a much better chance of leading the league in walks by a handy margin.

Obviously Sanchez isn't going to be Randy Johnson. But he supposedly has a repeatable delivery and is still very young.

 

It's repeatable, but it isn't very good, so it kinda negates any benefits of it being repeatable lol.
