Stages of denial:

1.) It's OK guys, we're 10 games over 500

2.) It's OK guys, only our hitting is an issue, and we were bound to regress!

3.) It's OK guys, E5 and Bautista are going to heat up eventually

4.) It's OK guys, the Yankees and Orioles are both pretty bad teams overall and will regress

5.) It's OK guys, we may be a .500 team but we can go on a hot streak again!

6.) It's OK guys, we may be 5 games under 500 but we have an easy schedule coming up!

7.) It's OK guys, at least Farrell and Red Sox are worse than us!

8.) It's OK guys, at least we're not the worst team in the division!

9.) It's OK guys, at least we get a good draft pick next year!

Seriously though, enough with the "it's OK" ********. At some point the team has to get out of this tailspin. But right now everything is going terribly for the Jays offense right now with no hint at it improving.

If we split this series with the Orioles, I'll feel better. But losing 3/4 and I think the team has to admit that they need problems that need to be fixed. I don't want to hear about that BS from Buehrle how we're still OK.

Now. Except I don't panic when it comes to this team. I expect this.

Why anyone would panic over a sports team is beyond me. I know you're kind of coming from a different angle, but... Either way, panicking is stupid.

Beginning of the season when we when we didnt get another starter, a quality second baseman and a platoon for lind.

but hell if you said this team would be well over .500 at this point of the season, i'd probably smirk.

You know even before this tailspin, I still didn't feel comfortable about the team. The rotation is incredibly unreliable and the bullpen is fishy with a mix of dominant performances and scrubs/underperforming relievers. I felt very pessimistic, but I felt that the offense, on average would be enough to compensate, especially with the type of competition (or lack of) in the division.

But now the offense is pretending like it's the 2013 Astros!

Why? We are slumping and there are no signs of coming out of it

Every team has slumps? Jays could put up 12 runs tomorrow and nobody would be that shocked.

Yeah that's what slumps always look like. And then teams come out of it. *shrug*

And you deny that the Jays are slumping?

They just came off of a 4-0 shutout win and a 1-run loss in which a fielding error was the difference. They just swept the Tigers last week. I'm not a dumbass incapable of critical thinking, like most of the sky-is-falling mob, so yes I do deny it. If the Jays fell back to .500, or fell back into third place, I would understand people being upset. Being 10 games over .500 in the middle of June, and just the idea of falling back down is flipping people out to the point of making these stupid f***ing threads? I've started avoiding the GDT's because they're full of this garbage, at least have the decency to keep it in those threads and don't spread this ******** out to the rest of the forum.

I just kept reading all the "Jays will contend even if they play .500 rest of the way" ******** in May and I could only think to myself "yeah f***ing right, if the Jays play anywhere close to .500 the rest of the way this place will implode". And what do you know, 7-5 record in June so far and we have a "stages of denial" thread. Give me a f***ing break.

Fans in this city are so insecure it's pathetic. It almost scares me thinking about what would happen if one of these teams did win something. We'd probably see a nation-wide emotional breakdown and riots throughout downtown.

This team has always been 1 starting pitcher, a second baseman and likely a catcher away from being a contender.

I still feel that way today.

They are still one starter short, Juan Francisco is not the answer at third (consequently moving Lawrie to 2nd), and a three-man catching crew may be doing more harm than good for Dionar Navarro's hitting.

Slooooow down buddy and take some adderall, you are getting too angry now.

Using win-loss scores to support your argument is like using win-loss/ERA for pitchers, or batting average for hitters.

Critical thinkers look at that win and realize that we got, what, 4 hits? Even in our wins we've had poor offensive showings with pathetic RISP #'s.

Slumps happen.

I remember last year in the midst of being terribad, the Jays had like an 8 game win streak. This is the same, but reverse mode.

if they lose tomorrow and get swept against the Yankees that will be very discouraging and their playoff chances will take a hit but would still be in reach even then. Really hope they can win 3 of the next 4 games but would be alright with 2.

Also...two errors today resulted in the loss.

Juan Francisco's throwing error to allow Jones to second and then the eventual game winning HR by Davis hurt...then Juan Rivera allowing Bautista to run home on Edwin's double. Instead of two men on at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, one is at second with 2 outs. Tolleson walks and Lawrie drives in Edwin with a single.

Right there was the ball game...mental errors all around.

I'm happy they even have fans in 2014 :)

These aren't fans. Fans actually like watching the games and following the team.

Merriam-Webster says a fan is "an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator." Synonyms are addict, aficionado (also afficionado), buff, bug, devotee, enthusiast, fanatic, fancier, fiend, fool, freak, habitué (also habitue), head, hound, junkie.

That doesn't describe these people. I don't know how to characterize them.

It's as if any sort of negativity on these boards is discouraged!

Like 2 months ago if you were positive you were hated, now if you're negative you're hated.

Y'all f***ers need to take a deep breath and try and form a rational analysis, which means dropping the overwhelming recency bias.

Which is what I'm providing - not sure why people are reacting so hostile. Like, if you don't have anything positive to contribute other than one word replies, then don't reply at all!

It was a bad moment realizing that the GDTs are just as bad as Orioles Hangout, if not worse..

Remember when the DDL and BBDL members used to post regularly? Nox, NJH, Boxy, BTS (although he's just ashamed), P2F, JFaS, and so on. A lot more rare these days what with the ridiculousness that goes on.

Jays fan boys in full effect.

Lol if you're not a fan (boy) then why the f*** do you even post here? 49 is right.
