Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 umm...it is a long season...again every team has stretches like this, even Championship teams. A voice of reason.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Pathetic Putrid and down right f***ing laughable now I bet Mike Wilner is going to say its a long season hahahah Here you go, man.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Seems like a ton of people jumped off the wagon at the first sight of adversity.
Unis Verified Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Really find our raptors easier to root and cheer for....at least they are a young team. The jays have a lot of veterans and have a short time frame to succeed. We really need an ace that can win at a steady pace and set the example for rest of starting pitchers, break losing streaks, etc.

frizzer1 Verified Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Seems like a ton of people jumped off the wagon at the first sight of adversity. But we've known all along that the starting pitching was not good enough and the bats eventually would cool off.....good teams with good starting pitching can win when the offense isn't there. Can this team?
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Seems like a ton of people jumped off the wagon at the first sight of adversity. It seems more like a bunch of trolls were waiting for them to start losing so they could show up and be annoying.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 The thing is this team came in at 11 games over .500. At the beginning of the season I think the vast majority of people would have been thrilled if this team was 5 games over at this point. Those freaking out probably think the team should be playing at the pace they were on during the streak, pretty wacko. Some of these same people probably thought Francisco WAS the next EE or Bautista and were posting about how Rasmus wasn't needed anymore...well, baseball is a cruel sport, the more you play, the more you are exposed.
TheBoneCollector Verified Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 This type of adversity will tell us if this team is serious or not......if they recover or start not wilt.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 What is it with these 2 run homers in the first inning? Delmon Young lol?
jerb Verified Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Barry Davis @SNBarryDavis For all those "concerned" #bluejays fans:.In 1993 they had a 2-12 stretch in July which shrunk their AL East lead to 1/2 game. It happens
Unis Verified Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Blue jays sure is giving away a ton of stuff....visors next !
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 But we've known all along that the starting pitching was not good enough and the bats eventually would cool off.....good teams with good starting pitching can win when the offense isn't there. Can this team? Basically, it's far from a perfect team, but as I've said since ST, look closely at the other teams and you'll find a lot of parity. The team is in a good spot, we'll see what they do to improve the team.

Can this team? Most of the regulars who support this team came into the season knowing this team likely wouldn't contend. The fact that they are exceeding expectations is great, but let's not kid ourselves, this team needs another SP.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Did he break his bat on that one?

Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Not wanting to deal with the GDT whiners =/ jumping off the wagon. Wasn't referring to the regulars. Most of the best posters never posted in this thread anyways.

Dickey and Buehrle are not going to anchor this thing.

Some of us go slumming while we're waiting for our f***ing fiancée to get their f***ing hair done before we go for dinner. f***ing women...
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 This type of adversity will tell us if this team is serious or not......if they recover or start not wilt. The thing is, the real adversity came in late April/early May when the bullpen would almost literally throw every game in the garbage. I was anticipating a spiral after that to be completely honest, but was pleasantly surprised at the previous month. These games will be easily made up once they get back on the horse.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Lawrie had a great 1st AB, then gets completely passive in his second one, letting a hanger just float by. Good battle back though

Even the greatest teams grind tooth and nail every night for six months. Nuts.

I for one never really hopped on the wagon to begin with. I've been in "wait and see" mode all year. This team has teased us all too much in the past 20 years, after all.
