Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Dickey has to change speeds on the knuckler. Can't always throw the firm one.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 That's a good question. Baltimore is right behind us but Boston is Boston Cheer for Boston. We need as much distance as possible from the next best team in the division.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 and he's 4th. Yeah, 'caught that, dunno how I misread that, but multitasking... Regardless, the overall cost of R.A. Dickey was far greater than what the expected return could possibly have been. They have made him the opening day starter twice now, which implies that the team as a whole expects him to be the best pitcher in the rotation, and he's been exceptionally sub par with those expectations in mind. I simply dislike having R.A. Dickey on the Jays and I am going to continue to be vocal about it until he is gone, or he does something to change my mind about it. If he was brought in to be a #4 starter, I would be pleased with the results, he was not and I am not. All will NOT be forgiven by me if he does go another 6 shutout innings.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Dickey's contract is excellent. The issue is what we gave up for him, not what he is making. Exactly He's making Scott Feldman money But cost us a probable 1/2 caliber young starter I think D'Arnaud is going to bust but it still hurts. We probably could have had any of a number of starters for the same package.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 There ya go Dickey. That's what we want to see more of.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 First clean inning, good job. Down to 20 pitches/inning.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 a terrible bus crash for both teams? That is really f***ed up man.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Dickey has to change speeds on the knuckler. Can't always throw the firm one. Dickey gets close to anything firm and he'll write another chapter in his next book.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Ummmmm...have you seen JPA catch anyone? That guy makes catching anything difficult lol most of the time he failed at catching was because he was arrogant, so he reached instead of blocking the ball etc... But the first time Dickey pitched to him, he looked like a tool because it was so hard for him - as is for a lot of catchers who don't practice catching it. Navarro can't do s***; Kratz is a fastball-inclined catcher --- both being risque for Dickey.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Frank Viola III debut as a Knuckleballer 3 scoreless, HBP, 2 walks, 4 K's (Groundouts-flyouts: Viola 4-1)

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 What's the consensus here, Orioles or BoSox?

Dickey will go on a huge roll at some point. He will always have his ups and downs, but when he is going right he is devastating.
