IBTrini Verified Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 This team needs an ace . It is a top 5 team in baseball with the addition of a guy like Price. A stacked offense with a rotation of: -Price -Hutchison -Buehrle -Dickey -Stroman Is good enough to win the world series. This team should offer anything and everything besides Stroman and Hutch to TB for Price. Discuss It almost happened but failed at the last moment. Anthopoulos, when he saw it could happen, said he was willing to give up almost the whole farm but Tampa had a particular player in mind and would not budge on their demands. It was the deal breaker. Tampa wanted Anthoupolus to include John McDonald or it was no deal and that's the story so let's just forget about unloading the farm.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Are those guys really on here too? They are all over the old board which the reason I go there less and less. Gibbers was on there today massacring the HOF f***tard Sempai for amusement over his "Rajai Davis" clown thread. All the accounts of #3 get banned and deleted very quickly, often before most if the board even see their posts. At least those ones are easy decision bans because theory make stupid threads just like on the old board where they still run rampant. You should see how long the list is of deleted/banned accounts.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 MohYou is confirmed Dogg? This is news to me. Was there a big deal made of it? Did I miss it? f*** me for being distant the past month or so - I'm missing all the goods. Yes. Back when we were trying to be tolerant and giving people second.chances on the new board. MohYou was Dogg and we let him hang a round too long - he accumulated almost 1000 mostly stupid posts before Chappy snapped and banned him. We let it go on too long. his subsequent accounts (whatever is Dogg...) have made dumb threads and gotten deleted on sight. He hates us now but we have to keep him off. He is incorrigible.

Tampa would KILL to get Edwin on a ridiculously cheap 9M per year contract.

Can you imagine?! With their lack of offense and RHH Myers struggling how much they would love to get EE for 10mm per through 2016.

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 There is an add-on for vBulletin that lets the admin know when a person is registering multiple accounts. It works wonders.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Though again, if a previously aggravating poster makes a new account and is decent, I don't mind letting them back. This happens sometimes and as long as they're not total idiots that's totally fine. Like I said, only a few are completely incorrigible.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) Id want Price and Myers for Edwin and I still might not make that deal. Price and Zobrist for EE and Stroman or Sanchez? Yes Price and Zobrist are 2 premium players, but they are running out of affordable control years rapidly and this trade makes Tampa much more sustainable $ wise. It's all moot and just for fun - I don't see Tampa/Toronto making a trade any time soon. Edited June 2, 2014 by G-Snarls
BarkatToronto Verified Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Id want Price and Myers for Edwin and I still might not make that deal. That's a poor decision IMO. as hot as Edwin is, we are talking about an established ace and whats probably going to be a top3 outfielder in the majors for several years. Having said that, obviously you don't trade your top 2 bat in a pennant race. However never take the absolute approach. Two years from now Edwin maybe past his prime, where as Myers will be a top 5 player in the majors
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Id want Price and Myers for Edwin and I still might not make that deal. LOVE Price in our rotation but I wouldn't. An everyday moose like EE who still might have even more upside, and who is dirt cheap relative to production/comparables for a guy who is already $14mm and is a FA in 2016. He adds value every 5th day if he pitches well. Who knows with Myers? Last year he looked to be on an unstoppable trajectory up, and this year he looks like Lawrie lite. Stuck at .666 OPS. Is that a sign? lol

Even last year some of his numbers indicate concerns that he might be able to work through...or not. We will see. Plus we hope to be in a race this year. I don't want to replace Myers for EE in our order for Price every 5th day.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Prob just a sophomore slump Happens to good players all the time His peripherals are all about his career norms. I think he'll be fine.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hinske was a top5 prospect in all of baseball? I seem to recall Hinske was just a surprise, My point is simply that he is unproven and in a race Id stick with EE for the now, although I take your point that there would be future value in taking that deal likely. I think he Myers will be fine too. But we have all seen our share of can't miss miss.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I hate to use the "C" word, but trading Edwin would be a huge blow to the team's Chemistry, which probably shouldn't be a thing, but probably is a thing with this clubhouse. Obviously Edwin is not going to keep up this pace, but I still wouldn't move him, even if it's to get Price and Myers. Also, take his bat out of our lineup that faces LHP and it's not nearly as dangerous. Lawrie batting cleanup? Adding Price to the rotation, and having a guy like Myers with so many years of control left is very desirable, but not at the cost of Edwin, IMO. Not when we're "All In".

Mid season trade of Edwin seems completely unfathomable.

Any idea how to check his prospect rankings back through those years?
xposbrad Verified Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I think you can see the pattern of TB trades. They trade a player in their prime to get back affordable and long term controllable talent and/or top prospects. So, I don't think they are looking for vets. That being said, if Price/Shark required the same package to acquire, you go all in for Price not Shark. So, if the team is deciding to make a big package for a pitcher, I think without a doubt Price is the man to go after.
