We cannot send him down at this point can we? HE is playing and hitting well, his speed is electric as is his D. Can we get anything worthwhile in a trade for Rasmus? What will the Org do when Rasmus returns?

Rasmus CFer, Gose 4th OFer. He'll still get plenty of playing time.

You're kidding yourself if you think Gose will keep hitting like this. Rasmus is the better hitter. Gose offers a huge weapon off the bench with his speed and D.

I'm probaby off the "re-sign Rasmus" bandwagon at this point unless we get him for a very reasonable deal.. but I think people are too quick to forget about how good he was last year. He's still a very good CFer. He can go on a power streak with the best of them.

Never said he would keep hitting like he is but that's irrelevant, his Defense and speed are big assets.

I agree with this. Rasmus if he is healthy has an outside chance at 30 HR with a passable OBP and defense. As much as I like what Gose brings to the table, it would be interesting to see if he can be moved as part of a package for a good starter. Of course the team needs to look like a contender at the deadline or AS break, or else the money won't be there to sign Rasmus and bring in a guy like Samardzija with a possible extension.

If only Kratz could catch Dickey..we could keep them all..

Right now, Thole deserve a spot at 25-man roster.

Sad but true

You're kidding yourself if you actually think Rasmus provides more overall value than Gose. Rasmus is streaky but Gose provides value on a daily basis. Recipe for success.

Trade Rasmus for a SP or keep both. Qualify Rasmus at end of season as well Cabrera. Gets picks or at the very least Rasmus accepts play him in LF with Gose in CF.

Exactly. You can find a way to get the both of them into the game on a regular basis.

When is Rasmus even due back? Probably not something we have to even think about for a few weeks anyway.

Last I heard, John McDonald provided value on a daily basis.

What? So sit Francisco versus righties? WTF did you just type?

As long as Thole keeps doing his best Tony Gwynn impersonation over his limited role, he has earned his spot.

Thole 56 PA .829 OPS

Kratz 46 PA .617 OPS

Neither of them has had a career that implies you gotta keep them both. At this stage it looks like Kratz could go.

one thing about Gose... he has the tools to be one of the best, if not the best, defensive CF ever - routes, jump, speed, arm, athleticism are all elite

Your so dumb, I don't know why you are even here.

Nice one. Can we talk baseball or is that not relevant for you? In all honesty I don't think Gose's bat is going to play in the long run. He's a great defender but his hitting is pretty capped even for a young player. Sorry but I am going against the grain on Gose as much as he's been exciting the last few weeks.

He can also provide value on a daily basis being a pinch runner and defensive replacement off the bench. The only reason against that would be that he needs playing time every day to develop. I think Gose is beyond that player development stage. The team is built to win now and your best shot at that is having Rasmus' bat in there every day with Gose's speed and defensive skill to be applied when needed.

jays have the oldest team (?) in baseball - everyone needs a day off or a DH day now and then... Gibby is a master at getting everyone playing time

I never would have thought a person who names himself after Kelly Gruber would be subject to such emotional and irrational responses in his online conversations....

I agree, but Gose is not done developing by a long shot and needs to play. He's in our long term plans, Rasmus is not. I understand Rasmus needs to play to gain trade value, but not at the expense of a special impact player who is a zone. Too risky to crutch his development. Numbers may not support this, but this is one of those times where the decision has to be based on the human element. If Gose was not contributing, that would be a different story.

That's all Dickey's fault, if you take him out of the equation, I think our average age is like... 15 or something?

Overreacted on the John McDonald comparison. Gose is the special player that we fought hard to get into our system. He's on the verge of breaking out to become an everyday impact type CF. It just irks me to no end that the likes of Colby Rasmus can potentially destroy this. Gose is at a sensitive spot in his career and it has to be dealt with carefully. He's mentally done with the minors, its obvious. He needs to be shown that management is behind him and he'll flourish guaranteed, you can smell it. So if we trade Rasmus now instead of at the deadline we'll get a bit less in return, big deal. It's not worth the developmental risk sitting or sending down Gose at this point. Rasmus will not be extended, Melky will.

Gose is our CFer.
