Joke of a front office, JAys in first, have a good chance to be a playoff team if they acquire a good pitcher, Rogers won;t spend any money. Winning = More people = more money. Hate Rogers.

They have a good chance to make the playoffs if they don't acquire a good pitcher.

The Beuhrle thing is kinda stupid, why not just hire Halladay as a special assistant/consultant. It would be much cheaper.

The rest I kinda agree with, we don't have the prospect depth for another big move I'd rather pick up some rental that can have just as much impact short term.

I would rather do a rental player than give out what Cubs are asking for Shark. Stroman could come make an impact and if Sanchez gets his command figured out he would be a great piece too. No sense trying to trade for an ace.

I still like the pitchers they have in AAA to contribute but they really should be shutting down Hutch (or extending him as it's the right thing to do...guarantee him money if you are going to put him at more health risk than he currently is) so they really need to be prepared to replace him too

"....Alex Anthopoulos maintains a perspective, and it is not the Blue Jays perch atop the American League East. It was May, 2009, when he was J.P. Ricciardi’s assistant, “we were 27-13 and headed off on a nine game road trip,” he recalls.

“We lost them all,” Anthopoulos said before Friday night’s win against the league’s best team, Oakland. They went 48-74 the rest of the way. So being 27-22 with a 1 ½ game lead on the Orioles on May 24 is, well, great and surprising and what it was supposed to be last year and this time leads into 16 of 19 games at home…”But,” says the Jays general manager, “it is May..."

that's the perspective I like to see...haven't earned anything yet.

Because the division blows.

He may realize Money coming off the books won't be given to him for reallocation. Buehrle Won't get a good return and just because the Dodgers spend money doesn't mean they are suckers.

Not going to read but Wow if that Buehrle comment is true.

You could probably fetch a really nice haul from some rich team like the Dodgers at the deadline.

Are we eating most of his contract to get a nice haul?

Takeaways - If Jays were to fall out of it, AA would not trade Buehrle and keep him as a $19M teacher; Jays are at max payroll; and they would consider (prefer?) rental pitchers.

Sounds worse than how it was laid out in the article. The guy is a part of the team and the GM isn't gonna say "yeah, we're looking to move Buehrle."

That's what you want to hear from your GM "holy f***, we're 5 games over .500, didn't see that one coming".

"In five May starts, Buehrle is 4-0, 2.16. He leads the league in wins. In his 14th full season, he has never missed a start, and his 194 wins (remember, he is the Anti-Analytic) is third behind the 209 of Tim Hudson and 208 of CC Sabathia (the only other active pitcher with more than 150 wins is Bartolo Colon)."

Has Buerhle really never missed a start? if so, that is f***ing insane, what a horse.

I had to look this up, as I didnt really believe it as well. He's had a minimum of 30 starts in EVERY season since 2001. (remember, he is the Anti-BrandonMorrow)
