BTS Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 What do you all think of this deal. In a league roughly similar to the BDL Kevin Pillar Bryan Abreu Cory Knebel Xavier Edwards 2022 2nd For Veen 2022 3rd or 4th Veen. That's basically just Veen for Edwards.

Gimme Veen all day - he has franchise player upside. Edwards is okay
Brian Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Id be the one getting Veen. Thinking about pulling the trigger on it
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Id be the one getting Veen. Thinking about pulling the trigger on it You should absolutely pull the trigger while offer is on the table.
Brian Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 And sorry the league is similar to LOD.
Brian Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 To many letters to remember lol
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 And sorry the league is similar to LOD. Still do it. Pillar is replacement level even in a 30 team league and Knebel and Abreu are worth owning but can be replaced at some point from the free agent pile

TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Every Veen owner should be selling before his exposure though. Take the deal and flip Veen.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I have Royce Lewis in a Dynasty league.. Only 13 max MILB roster. I am not sure if rostering him for another year is an efficient use of space. I have had some offers, but, I am having a hard time assessing value on him. What type of return do you think is fair for me? Thanks

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Issac Paredes and Luis Garcia (Astros SP/RP) who I actually like. I also need a back up/depth 3b for my MLB roster which Paredes offers since he is supposed to be the Tigers starting 3b.

I own both in LoD and would not move them for Royce Lewis.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I’m not the highest guy on Royce Lewis as his hit tool is still questionable, but there’s enough people that believes in him to maintain his elite prospect status for four years straight. 2018 BA #24 2019 BA #9 2020 BA #26 2021 BA #29 He might make his debut this year, so it really depends if you believe in his bat. On paper he’s worth more than Paredes and Garcia, but Lewis stock can start declining dramatically if he continues to struggle hitting in the upper minors and MLB. He had a really good showing before covid (seems like decades ago) during the AFL and took home MVP honours, so there’s some glimpses his bat could bounce back. Also a question mark which position he settles in for the Twins. He also drew some Springer comps for his raw tools, but production wise Springer demolished the upper minors where Lewis has struggled in smaller sample.

I appreciate the excellent analysis, thank you. I did the trade yesterday. He will not be playing in the 2021 season due to his injury and the league I had him has 13 max minors spots. We are in the middle of a draft and I have a bunch of first to third rnd pics and it just not seem like good roster management to use that space for an IL guy another year. Even before his injury, I would get very few inquiries or offers for Lewis. People wanted everyone else I had, many “ranked” way lower, but for some reason, he did not garner the interest of his rankings.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 So I've got the 4th pick in a new fantasy, keep forever league. I'm actually considering taking skinny Vladdy 4th. Am I crazy?

A bit early but not crazy maybe a handful of picks later. Also 1b is kind of underrated. Outside of a couple guys like Freeman and Belly there’s not a lot of elite producers there that aren’t 35yo
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I know most use this to sound off on off-bird leagues but: Luis Robert vs Eloy Jimenez. What kind of value do you tack on to LR if the other guy doesn’t have a long-term CF I think I offered like Casas/Jung type add ons. Do you need another star prospect in there?

I think I would draft Robert ahead of Eloy in most normal formats so I wouldn't add anything. In 5x5 the steals are a big deal. At the same time, in some leagues a guy like Jung has no value so if you like Eloy a lot...
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 So I've got the 4th pick in a new fantasy, keep forever league. I'm actually considering taking skinny Vladdy 4th. Am I crazy? That's absurd. I took Brett Lawrie in the 2nd round of the initial DDL draft, so I'm an authority on team-crippling fantasy homerism and you should listen to me.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I think I would draft Robert ahead of Eloy in most formats so I wouldn't add anything. Yeah I thought it was really close and someone like Casas/Jung would get it done. Balked at anything more. If I wasn’t doubling down on Adell I prob wouldn’t do it straight up
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Jim if you really want Vlad you could probably trade down and still get him at like 15th overall right pick #4 is Trout or Mookie so someone will pay up for it
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 doubling down on Adell good luck!!!
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 If you're going full Jays homer, is there even a reason to consider Vladdy over Bichette? Bo is only a year older, has outhit Vlad in the majors, and is going to stick at short (probably). Vlad has already lost 3B eligibility, and might never get it back.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Two recent returns for Mike Trout in forum leagues: Albies Olson Buehler Paddack Devin Williams Bieber Bichette I think that puts into perspective how crazy it would be to pass on Trout and take Vlad. Nobody would currently move anything close to those packages for Vlad.

The other guys were surprised at the Trout pick, for some reason.
