so i have a potential deal on the table in my 30 team dynasty league. i was checking in on kyle schwarber as a potential buy low given he is injured and the reply i got was i would have to give up a similar young cost controlled player (our contracts are kind of convoluted but we control the first 6 years of a players career for relatively cheap). this is the list of targets he asked for.

3B - Nick Castellanos (DET) = $0.75m [3]

RHP - Marcus Stroman (TOR) = $0.50m [3]

2B - Devon Travis (TOR) = $0.50m [2]

SS - Carlos Correa (HOU) = $0.50m [2]

RHP - Noah Syndergaard (NYM) = $0.50m [2]

SS - Corey Seager (LAD) = $0.30m [1]

obviously the bottom 3 are non-starters. i'd like to keep castellanos too and that leaves the blue jays. i am like to own as many jays as a i can and am a self professed fandom advocate so its not easy for me to move either of the young potential studs. i certainly will when push comes to shove here but i am curious which one do you guys think is more valuable? stroman or travis? which one should i keep and which one should i offer up for schwarber?

Stroman is such an awful low right now. I would deal Travis out of the Blue Jays.

Castellanos in a second. His success will not be sustained.

My advice isn't worth much here but I would definitely second this. Not really much of a debate in my mind. You could buy low and sell high in one fell swoop.

Why would the guy like Nick C? You're assuming he likes Nick C because he's hot right now.

There's a list of players that the guy wanted ITT. Nick C is on it. There is no assumption at all.

So bizarre.

I'd gladly give up any of Travis, Stroman or Castellanos for Schwarber. I'd probably even give up two of them.

Why not all three? I'm a bit of a Schwarber skeptic but at the same time I don't see any of those three having comparable fantasy upside.

Yeah, maybe. I think Stroman's stocl is down right now and he's probably a lot better than this down the road, but even still, I think Schwarber is going to be a hush masher.

If it was a smaller league, it would be a no brainer but I just checked again and it's a 30 teamer and that really changes things. Three young productive if not spectacular players is worth A LOT in a 30 teamer. That being said, it doesn't sound like it will cost that much anyways.

yeah its a pretty fortunate trade for me when i look at it. just gotta capitalize when i can. i'm kinda surprised the way you guys view travis over castellanos though. kinda caught me off guard with that.

Positional value + I'd put money on Travis as the better hitter if I had to choose.

Meh, Castellanos has been an exactly league average hitter for his 1500 PA career. He's riding a BABIP hot streak right now and I don't think his power gains are sustainable (15% HR/FB is about 5% too high). I don't think either him or Travis is ever going to be regular Top 10 player at their respective positions. I would lean towards Travis over Castellanos because there is still a bit of an unknown quantity there. I don't think he's going to stay a 120 wRC+ guy, but at least there's that plausible upside. Plus, as Boxy says, 2B > 3B, all else being equal.

For Schwarber, hoewver, I see .400 wOBA seasons in his future. He has all the tools to hit 30 HR on a regular basis and have monster OBPs.

The concern I have more with Castellanos is the walk rate. However as far as larger number of career PA, he's STILL a full year younger than Devon Travis is. It's not at all unreasonable imo that he'll make more adjustments and improve further. I could see him being a 120 to 125 wRC+ guy with 20 to 25 home runs a year. Not elite by any means, but definitely very valuable in a 30 team league (even more so with your league's salary factors for the next few years).

Whether he or Devon are more valuable going forward, I'm not sure. 2B IS a harder position to fill, and I love Devon's approach at the plate.

I have a question. I have Giolito on my minor league's of my cash dynasty. The way it works is player's on my minor league team don't have to be called up until 3 years from pitching 50 IP. Once called up they can't be sent down. I am currently streaming SP's in the spot he would take. I feel like the numbers I'm getting from puss baller's no one wants will likely be comparable to what to expect from Giolito this year. Can someone confirm I need to be patient and leave him down. I am on the fringe of a playoff spot.

Does he have an innings limit this year?

Keep him down. Unless he blows off the doors and holds his rotation spot and you're still a fringe playoff contender then it might make sense to. Promoting rookies too soon can really dilute their value.

It is fantasy baseball. Call him up and try and make the playoffs. You'll lose your last keeper because of it, who will probably not be anything too special anyway.

Atleast hold off until he makes his start and the Nationals decide what to do with him. If he implodes they might send him right back down when Stras comes back.

He must. I'm thinking I will wait 15 days and see how it play's out. I did the same with McCuller's last year, though I was tanking.

He's not ready. Despite not giving up runs, he wasn't that great in his debut. I'd be surprised if he lasts more than three more starts this year, and I don't think they'll be quality starts. He's probably one or two years away still.

This is kind of my thought's, I'm thinking he is a better asset left in the minor's than struggling and up and down but permanently on my MLB roster. I left McCuller's down all of last year, and the worse record allowed me to draft Benintendi. I've also got Wheeler on the DL and will have to account for him coming back.

There is $400 and $800 up for grabs, but I don't think my team can win even if he pitches well.
