fireballW Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Cueto is more than fair for Giolito. Giolito isnt the top guy anymore. He has been brutal this year. Urias, Glasnow, and De Leon ahead of him for sure plus maybe a few more now such as Hader, Espinoza, Bickford, Honeywell and the DBacks Cody Reed? The Reds' Cody Reed isn't that far off anymore either. Maybe someday we can have a Cody Reed vs Cody Reed showdown in the bigs.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 On that thought, we really need to trade something to Stewart for Reed.
Molitor Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Who is the best rookie to stash right now for a 14 team redraft? H2H, locked weekly lineups. Scoring system is total points rather than stat categories (i.e. 4 points for a HR, 7 pts for a W, +/-0.5 pts for a K, etc..). Playoffs are weeks 23 thru 25 so would want to be someone who can help all the way to the end. Obvious ones available: Trea Turner AJ Reed Urias Alex Reyes Snell Trea Turner would replace Anthony Rendon. Reed would replace Alex Gordon at Util I guess. Otherwise I'd drop Latos (or Corbin?) probably if it's a pitcher. Thoughts? Thx

Molitor Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Is Glasnow available? I already have him stashed The only other guy who has been picked up is Giolito. I think everyone else is available. I'm reading more on Urias and he's going for surgery on his eye later this month and would come back later in June. Helps with the innings limit and it means he'd be around for the playoffs. I think that might be my guy.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 If the league is 5x5 then Moncada. If its 7x7 then its much closer. it's actually an Ottoneau points league with SB's being about 1/3 the points value of an HR. Just was an angry Nox not happy that I'm considering a deal for Moncada and not Gallo.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 measurable factor = giolito is a better pitching prospect than cueto ever was Irrelevant. Brandon Wood was a much better prospect than Matt Carpenter. What's your point? measurable factor = giolito is one of, if not the single best, top pitching prospects right now measurable factor = giolito is younger than cueto Neither one disputed , not sure why you're bringing them up. measurable factor = all of this stuff http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/pitcher-aging-curves-starters-and-relievers/ measurable factor = johnny cueto is ranked #25 out of all SP eligible players when accounting for ERA, WHIP, SO. thats barely a #1 starter in a 30 team league. he gets bumped up to #16 if you include WINs but everyone knows wins are fluky as hell for pitchers so they arent very reliable. So here's what I'm understanding from your post. - Giolito is pretty much guaranteed to be a much better pitcher than Cueto in the near future. - Cueto is 30 so therefore he must only have a few years left (interesting how you only apply risk in one direction) No offense, but you don't seem to have a very strong grasp on prospect attrition rates.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I gotta say, I've been happy with Rodgers, Swanson, and De Leon... but Boxy might have kicked the s*** out of me with Bregman and Benintendi... we shall see how it plays out
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 On that thought, we really need to trade something to Stewart for Reed. 36:1 K:BB ratio through 23 innings. Yes, please!

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Alex Bregman He said for Playoffs...I know that isn't something you understand. Correct answer is Snell or another pitcher cause Reed will not be better than Gordon and Turner will not be better than Rendon.

I'd say there's a really good chance he's up by the end of the year.

And trust me when I say I learned to be like that the hard way. You are both underrating Cueto big time and overrating Giolito, not factoring in immediate need and making a whole bunch of baseless assumptions. It's fine to have a difference of opinion, it's just annoying to argue with someone whose points can basically be reduced to "I believe x and therefore it's true."
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 You need to have your heart broken, stomped on and shredded by multiple blue chip prospects before fulling understanding prospect attrition.

Terrible broadcast but overall he didn't look special. Mind you without hitting his spots he still didn't give up any earned runs. Sat 93ish, but his breaking stuff is intimidating as hell.

crazy47larry Verified Member Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 maybe i am just more patient since i am a prospect hound. i know the risks but its just part of the equation for me. plus i am a devout fan of the draft and develop method for sustained success.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I wonder whats going on with Lucas this year. Something must be up leading to all these walks. He's never really had a problem with them to this point. Hopefully he works out whatever is happening.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Was hoping to move Giolito at some point this year but after the bashing he's taken ITT I'm going to have to hold off.
