Just no metallica.

 

We have the same taste in music but.................slipknot over Metallica is blasphemous.

Seriously though. Only metallica song I've heard that I liked was St. Anger, although I've never really sat through their albums to be a better judge, mainly just heard their singles and better known stuff, to be honest. But what I HAVE heard didn't do it for me.

 

One of my buddies tried to turn me on to Sepultura. "Roots" is great, love to lift to that s***, but all else sucked. Slipknot is really the only metal I love, and even then they're pretty commercial, not at all hardcore.

 

St. Anger has the worst snare sound in the history of recorded music. It could be an amazing song, but I'd never know because getting past the "TING!" sound every 2 beats is impossible for me. Also, Sepultura has some awesome stuff, Roots is great, but so is most of the rest of their stuff.

QOTSA has 1 album I enjoyed, Tool are gods among mortals... sometimes the Prodigy have some interesting things, and there are a few Radiohead songs that don't suck. APC is basically "Tool, but not quite as good and the bass cranked."

I've been working in recording studios for nearly 20 years (god I'm old...), bands that intentionally sound "lo-fi" irritate me to no end.

 

And I guess I've only heard 2 of their last 3 albums then... I heard the one that came out last spring... Nothing on it really stood out to me, frankly. Only listened to it twice, didn't draw me in enough to listen to it more than that.
