Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I've killed people for less than this. Slipknot > metallica Queens of the stone age, Tool, slipknot, nine inch nails, smashing pumpkins, the prodigy, radiohead, them crooked vultures, a perfect circle....... Just no metallica. We have the same taste in music but.................slipknot over Metallica is blasphemous.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I know music is essentially 100% personal taste but holy sweet Jesus really? St. Anger? "St. Anger" for the Metallica's repertoire is like "Ryan Goins" for the Blue Jays roster.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Glad to see you post more over here. The old board is trashed as long as Sempai is spewing his garbage on it. Ya thanks. He is a problem. He loves that he drives people away. Its his shtick. Pathetic, but that's his world. His anti Lawrie and "all hail the greatness of Rajai" and "Jose B should sac bunt" threads are all troll moves. And pretty effective for his twisted purposes.

I went back there the other day and almost every thread was about Lawrie or Davis, so i just kept posting on all of them that he should seek help.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Rofl Seriously though. Only metallica song I've heard that I liked was St. Anger, although I've never really sat through their albums to be a better judge, mainly just heard their singles and better known stuff, to be honest. But what I HAVE heard didn't do it for me. One of my buddies tried to turn me on to Sepultura. "Roots" is great, love to lift to that s***, but all else sucked. Slipknot is really the only metal I love, and even then they're pretty commercial, not at all hardcore. St. Anger has the worst snare sound in the history of recorded music. It could be an amazing song, but I'd never know because getting past the "TING!" sound every 2 beats is impossible for me. Also, Sepultura has some awesome stuff, Roots is great, but so is most of the rest of their stuff. Queens of the stone age, Tool, slipknot, nine inch nails, smashing pumpkins, the prodigy, radiohead, them crooked vultures, a perfect circle....... Just no metallica. QOTSA has 1 album I enjoyed, Tool are gods among mortals... sometimes the Prodigy have some interesting things, and there are a few Radiohead songs that don't suck. APC is basically "Tool, but not quite as good and the bass cranked."

LOL! Ya I saw that. He SHOULD seek help but he wont. He crawled back into his hole abut 3/4 of the way through 2013 and disappeared, and he will again. I don't bite much anymore. Its no contest with him. Too easy to make him dance like a puppet.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Just curious, which qotsa album was it? Songs for the Deaf. There last 2 albums sound like they were recorded under water on a Fisher Price tape recorder (I was really excited for their 4th album until I heard it...)

There last 2 albums sound like they were recorded under water on a Fisher Price tape recorder (I was really excited for their 4th album until I heard it...) They've released 3 since SFTD, their latest one being last spring. "Keep your eyes peeled" from the latest one gives me a chubby whenever I put it on. Yeah, they were going for a gritty, lo-fi sound on the two albums that came after SFTD methinks.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Our recruitment system is very severe and effective. The trolls hardly pass the test. Recruitment system 1-What is your Metallica favourite song? 2-What do you think about JP? 3-Can Goins stick? 4-Do you like Dominicans? Not sure how this thread got hijacked into a metal discussion? Everyone has their tastes. Just not mine.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Agreed. Ang do you like any progressive metal? Thats my favourite type of music. Dream Theater, Mastodon, Opeth, System of a Down.

I've been working in recording studios for nearly 20 years (god I'm old...), bands that intentionally sound "lo-fi" irritate me to no end. And I guess I've only heard 2 of their last 3 albums then... I heard the one that came out last spring... Nothing on it really stood out to me, frankly. Only listened to it twice, didn't draw me in enough to listen to it more than that.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Yeah, let's switch it up so that folks with rhythm and flow can partake ... Eric B & Rakim's "Follow the Leader" or PE's "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos"? PE, and it's not close.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Yeah. He's a talented guy overshadowed by Cobain's shadow Cobain was a phenomenal songwriter, very few can do what he did. He did, however, ruin music.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Try giving " Monster Truck" a listen sometime! Or 70's throwback from toon town who stole randy Bachman's jacket and brain " the Sheepdogs"
