baubau Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I'd love to get Hisashi Iwakuma from Seattle. Doubt he's available and not sure what it'd cost.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yeah, this f***ing thread is dumn!! How is this thread dumb? 1. It's not dumb 2. If you think it's dumb, don't read it.
BarkatToronto Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I like Jon neise a lot. And he won't cost an arm and a leg like shark. Plus he is controllable till 2017. I'd do Sanchez and a b prospect for him
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Where did BTS' posts ITT go? Did he finally get banned for all of the abusive language?

I'd do Sanchez and a b prospect for him With Rasmus and perhaps Melky gone next year, I think Gose is pretty much untouchable at this point. Pillar would be hard to give up as well. Im resigned to the notion that either Stroman or Sanchez will have to go, if we want to upgrade our staff for this year. I think its fine, as long as we're getting someone who will be here beyond a year or two. I agree Niese would fit perfectly. 7 Years of controllability of Stroman or Sanchez for 4.5 years of controllability of Niese, with the difference in salaries offsetting the risk that Stroman or Sanchez are a bust. Sabr peeps say this isnt a thing, but I still worry about NL pitchers coming over to the AL, esp the AL East (albeit this being a down year). SSS but Niese's interleague splits have been pretty bad from my cursory look.

I'd like Matt Harvey for the 2nd half, I'd take him at 80% of what he was prior to TJS...only problem is I doubt he's available and not sure what it'd cost.

In fairness he prob didn't know how many years of control Iwa had.. I didn't and had to look quick just now. Common sense would be that he'd be on a clock like any other rookie but when I played franchise mode in 2k13 he was always a FA after two years so I had to check:)
SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Pitchers I'd target Samardzija, Kennedy, Lee, and Niese Second Baseman I'd target... Aaron Hill, Brian Dozier and Chase Utley I think all of them are attainable, however, you may have to pay more to get Shark or Lee. Hill is definitely on the top of my list as a second baseman.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Hill and Utley are a little too expensive for my taste and you're going to be buying Dozier at probably his peak value. The Tolleson/Lawrie thing has worked out ok. Just roll with it for now.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 How about shields if KC drops out of things. Maybe buy masterson when his value is low?
BarkatToronto Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 How about shields if KC drops out of things. Maybe buy masterson when his value is low? Can't see either Indians or royals not competing for the second wild card
shortstop Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Liking that 3 way trade involving Rasmus idea....jays get starter from team 3, team 2 that's contending gets CF it needs with pop, and 3rd team gets prospects from team 2
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 KC your probably right, not sure about Cleveland. We should focus on the worst teams..... Arizona, San Diego, cubs, mets, phillies, Houston. Won't include boston I'd bet AA pulls off a blockbuster with phillies involving a pitcher and utley but I don't think we have the cash. Maybe we can include top prospects and even the cash out by sending Romero and Happ their way.
BarkatToronto Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 The logistics of it are difficult. Its going to be a major sellers market I would not make a move unless we were in a division lead
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Not sure where to put this, but I guess this thread is the best spot. Jim Duquette @Jim_Duquette 12m Anthopoulos just told us besides a starter he would like to find a mainstay at 2b or 3b, and possible some bullpen help @MLBNetworkRadio More bullpen help...really?

This is what so many fear with AA. His BP fetish may get him into another Gomes/Aviles for Rogers disaster. They've got Stilson in AAA, give him a chance if you're worried about the BP. When Stroman was optioned, AA said they felt they had strengthened the BP by putting McGowan in there so I hope this is just the usual speculation by Duquette.

SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Wagner is sitting there too and Santos still to come off the DL. Why in the world would we need more bullpen arms

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I kind of like the idea of Burnett. He won't cost as much, the Phillies owe us from the Doc trade, and his salary commitments aren't long term. I might wait a month or so and make sure the walk rate goes down a bit, but his groundball rate has been much higher the last few years so I think he would fit.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Lind and Stroman to Texas for Profar.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Lind and Stroman to Texas for Profar. wh.. ah... um.. joke, right?
RedWhiteAndBlueJays Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I would love to see Lee here, the phillies need bullpen help. They wouldn't take Happ back. Phillies fans dislike happ. It's known they phillies don't want lee anymore.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Phillies fans don't want Lee anymore? Guy is still an absolute stud.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Phillies fans don't want Lee anymore? Guy is still an absolute stud. Yeah. It's the $$ that would be the issue of getting him. But yeah....dude is one of the best pitchers in the game and has been for quite sometime.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 wh.. ah... um.. joke, right? A platoon bat who can't play defense and a 5'8 pitcher who looks to be a BP arm in the bigs is well worth an everyday impact player that Profar projects to be.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yeah, you're absolutely right. Which is why Texas NEVER does that deal. EVER. Lind mashes there and with Fielder gone who knows? It's the perfect time for AA to give it a shot, especially with Profar recovering from his shoulder injury and Stroman's value is still somewhat high.

They don't view Lind as enough of an upgrade to move the #1-3 prospect in baseball for one in the 30's-40's.
