jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 With the win, we will leapfrog the Yankees and move into the wild card spot, and could even take the lead in the wild card, pending the result of the Astros/Angels game. (BTW, the Astros are actually closing in on Boston in the standings.. it's been an awful year for the Red Sox.)
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 These are the games we blew earlier in the season.. if only we had casey all season
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Santos blows that save. Atta boy Casey.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Meanwhile, Tampa continues to plummet in the standings as they are losing to the A's in the 9th. A's lost Crisp, however.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 man...kid looked like it was Christmas morning....those kind of things pump the entire team....a young rookie facing big papi in his first big league at bat and nails him down...sweet.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Just saw the replay for Lawrie's webgem. Jesus... That was insane.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Who doubted Janssen? They're dumn. I don't think anyone did, that big papi foul ball was scary. He got every inch of that ball

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Rays lineup tonight: Guyer Jennings Longoria Myers Rodriguez Forsythe Escobar Molina Ouch 4 studs and the best framer in the game. It's not their best lineup ever, but not "ouch" worthy. Remember, we're the team that threw out Ryan Goins, Jonathan Diaz, and Moises Sierra in the same lineup.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 http://24.media.tumblr.com/2da9b74e250b77932ecea1bceb250b9e/tumblr_n5wld8tDrW1rs13kco1_400.gif Yeah That's f***ing ridiculous.

The guy is below replacement level. That's a terrible lineup for a team expected to contend.

Sure it's better than San Diego's but that's not the point.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Enjoy it while it lasts. Will be shut out in the next 2 games by Buchholz and Lester.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Enjoy it while it lasts. Will be shut out in the next 2 games by Buchholz and Lester. Hey too bad you're trying to be negative for irrational reasons. Buchholz has been hit extremely hard this year. If he shuts them out it will be the stars aligning. Lester quite possibly though.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Pitch framing does not make up for Molina's horrendous bat. The guy is below replacement level. That's a terrible lineup for a team expected to contend. Again, it's not the best lineup ever. And who gives a s*** if Molina can't hit. His framing alone makes him very valuable. If you really want to see a sorry lineup, look at the Twins last season.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Again, it's not the best lineup ever. And who gives a s*** if Molina can't hit. His framing alone makes him very valuable. If you really want to see a sorry lineup, look at the Twins last season. Isn't this framing stuff still sort of in the development stage? I can buy that it's very important but Steamer wasn't using it before the season started.

If you really want to see a sorry lineup, look at the Twins last season. He's -.5 WAR this year with only 55 PA. You cannot just say "who gives a s***" when a guy is that bad. They're basically an NL team when he's out there.

They're basically an NL team when he's out there. I don't think they're using pitch framing yet. I could be mistaken but I know that the projections did not include it. Still, my point was that offensively that lineup is terrible, especially for the AL East. I find it hard to argue against that.
