After getting lit up earlier this week, it's not surprising. And with McGowan going back to the bullpen, Wagner is no longer needed right now. Still a question why Kratz is still here.. we could use another infielder.

They'll run Lawrie at second and Francisco at third until he turns back into a pumpkin. Three catchers + Tolleson and Pillar is how AA rolls.

Our infield would be what? Tolleson -SS?, Francisco - 3rd and Lawrie - 2nd? That would be pretty brutal.

Pillar's the 4th OF right now though, so I think that's legit. Kratz for Kawasaki would be the other move, but Gibbons has said he wants Francisco in the lineup, this is his baby.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Pillar's only here until Rasmus comes off the DL. And what happens if Francisco has a big emergence similar to Bautista and Encarnacion? After all, they blossomed after they came to Toronto, becoming All-Stars. Why do we need three catchers anyway? We could use Goins or Kawasaki on the bench right now for infield depth.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Also, it's likely the Jays won't bring an infielder up until the Boston series, because of the off-day Monday.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Bautista out supporting Mikey earlier today. Nice to see.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Lind doesn't have a platoon partner, that's a problem Kratz could work if the timing works out properly Navarro catching and Kratz DH vs LHP Doesn't work well if you keep trying to match certain catchers with certain pitchers though A right hand hitting 4th OF would be ideal, but Pillar isn't good enough and neither was Sierra

I think that given that Gibbons has said he'll continue to play Francisco at 3B, the bigger need would be a right hand hitting MIF that can play both SS and 2B.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Wagner is such a whipping boy. If we don't destroy his arm by the end of the year I'll be shocked.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Esmil still here This is what irritates me. Rogers is horrible. Horrible track record, is not young at all... I don't get it. Clearly this is AA trying to save face from the disasterous trade to acquire him.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 3 backup catchers on the active roster, lol
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Kratz is a legit starter. This team has a possible legit starter, and two back up catchers in the starting roster.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Other way around. Kratz >> Navarro at catching. Agree But I don't think AA and Gibby think that
