jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Yankee's getting killed. Boston down 5-2. Baltimore up by 1 with Davis on second with none out in the 9th. Detroit challenged as Davis was called out on the steal and was over turned.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Nice to get one off a very tough pitcher in Masterson. Back to .500 for the millionth time this year seemingly. Glad to see Janssen out there again tonight we missed him dearly.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 WOW. MIggy just hits a 3 run HR in the 9th......3-1 Tigers
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Nice two wins. Now it's time for the bad pitchers the next two days.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Never heard of this, you have a link? I've pitched over 25 years and never heard of this, although, I'd never pitch to a batter out of the stretch with no one on. I remember watching a game many years ago and witnessed this on a 3-0 count and was wondering why the f*** the batter was awarded first base. The commentators (probably Fergie Olver) called it a balk. That's why i thought is was technically a balk. Anyway.. From MLB Rule 8.01 (a): From this position any natural movement associated with his delivery of the ball to the batter commits him to the pitch without interruption or alteration. Rule 8.01 (d): If the pitcher makes an illegal pitch with the bases unoccupied, it shall be called a ball unless the batter reaches first base on a hit, an error, a base on balls, a hit batter or otherwise. Sorry, forgot the link. https://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120417202455AAkwuD4
