flafson Verified Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 There goes the theory of having SP come up from the minors swinging full force without caps.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 @JCRMarlinsbeat: #Marlins manager Mike Redmond to address media at 630 EST on Jose Fernandez injury situation. f*** you Verducci!!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Ouch. Sucks to lose Fernandez. Huge blow to the Marlins. Pitchers are dropping like flies this year.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 There goes the theory of having SP come up from the minors swinging full force without caps. They put all kinds of caps on Fernandez last year. This supports the theory of promoting your pitching prospects as soon as they're MLB ready since you don't know how long they'll stay healthy. Get value from them while you can.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Sources say it's an elbow injury. Looks like Tommy John Surgery is coming for Jose Fernandez.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Sources say it's an elbow injury. Looks like Tommy John Surgery is coming for Jose Fernandez. Which sources?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Finally, a reason to ban Raysjays. Hopefully.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Here's a source: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24559842/report-jose-fernandez-having-mri-for-unknown-injury Ken RosenthalVerified account @Ken_Rosenthal Fernandez to DL with right elbow sprain Results of MRI pending for Fernandez. Headed back to Miami. clarkspencer @clarkspencer Redmond: I think you're always concerned when you're talking about elbows. It's a big blow. Elbow sprains usually lead to Tommy John surgery.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 This is worth it if if leads to a RaysJays ban. lol why ban him if he's right. He has an elbow injury and people like Passan are echoing the word TJS in the same breath as Fernandez. Big blow to the marlins
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Sorry, I should've provided links. But before the presser, I had heard that it was elbow-related via Twitter.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Mostly the impact on the team. After all, he was Rookie of the Year last season, and was a Cy Young candidate. Wonder if Andrew Heaney or Justin Nicolino gets promoted..
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 To the Marlins board everybody!!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 @JCRMarlinsbeat 1m Source: #Marlins anticipate Fernandez will require season-ending elbow surgery. Holy s***!!!
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Guess we won't see him until early May 2015 if it's Tommy John surgery, considering the 12 month recovery.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Or Adam Wainwright (6-2, 2.02 ERA)
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Its definitely an epidemic, someone cue up Tom Verducci's crystal ball of doom and gloom
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Well, Sonny Gray, Gerrit Cole and Michael Wacha haven't gotten hurt yet.. but Salazar (who we will see Thursday) has significantly regressed. Erik Johnson is in AAA, Rienzo has been mediocre, Jordan has been awful, and Paxton is hurt. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20140121/year-after-effect-micahel-wacha-gerrit-cole-masahiro-tanaka/

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I consider this definitive proof that there is no god. Chaos is all, and nothing matters.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I consider this definitive proof that there is no god. Chaos is all, and nothing matters. Reported. Dinger is trying to turn this into another divinity questioning thread
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Jose Fernandez is the closest thing to divinity in my world.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hey guys, at least it wasn't a shoulder injury. I hope he has a quick recovery, what a player. Seems like a cool dude too
