You guys realize how many dominant starting pitchers had control issues in their early years? Doc Halladay included.

And how many don't pan out for the ones that do?

That's a little better than using the Jose Bautista argument for giving s***** players more time

could have just been pulled because his command and mechanics were off...

Hopefully it's that..trade scenario is least likely.. Though most ideal..

Everybody relax, Aaron Sanchez isn't hurt. He was removed from today's game because he threw a lot of pitches in the third inning. #BlueJays

Sanchez threw 34 pitches in that third inning. #BlueJays are being cautious with him. Didn't want him to go back out for the 4th. Not hurt.

It is NOT a 50/50 chance that Sanchez fixes his walks lol

Of course it isn't, but for the sake of best-case-scenario I said 50-50. Even Sanchez 50% likelihood to fix walks isn't worth the risk when you're getting a shark back

traded >>> called up >>>>>>>>> injured

I really, really hope he's traded.

Guy was literally gonna pop a blood vessel if he was traded 2 months ago, hates both Marlins/Mets deals, now wants to deal Sanchize. Flip flopper just like his favorite politicians.

lol @ you lashing out because you're mad that I've called you out in a couple of other threads. I've been skeptical of Sanchez for a long time.

I'm actually not mad at you lol. If you can't sense my half hearted attempts at posts lately (minus the political ones because I really do believe every word I say there), then whatever. This is all "killing time" to me, and I'm mostly lmao'ing after I read back my posts.

When you have 4 or 5 good young pitching prospects in A ball and you deal all but 1 odds are you will have guessed wrong.

listening to some XM baseball show today and there was talk about Utley to the Marlins today and the package centred around Nicolino. Don't think Utley waives his no trade for Toronto or Miami but individual trade value of the "extra parts" of that deal is just another value loss.

replay of the game is up. Figure this is as good a time as any to give a personal review of Sanchez. First time I've seen him since the piggyback days...not that this outing will be any different than those days

I'm very intrigued to see this 3rd inning...cause in the first 2 innings he started every batter (but one) with a ball to the same spot (up and in on righties, up and away on lefties) but came back with nice fastballs (no audio for the game so no velocity to report) and all the outs were extremely weak contact with 5 GB outs to go with the 1 K.

Before the season weren't a lot on this board dreading AA trading Sanchez for Samardzija?

I wouldn't have done it, due to the big contract a pitcher entering his 30's would've been getting, along with sending a Sanchez. And I believe it was Stroman & Sanchez that was being bandied about. Which would've been plain stupid.

Kev, did your subscription info or email change?

Looks like the Cubs were patient enough to let Samardzija fix his, which were a problem in the minors.

it's one outing...but he appears to be a guy who thinks way too much out there. Facing his 8th batter of the game, he's had 6 weak groundouts and 1 K. He starts the number 8 hitter 2 and 0 and he becomes visibly upset, walks off the mound. Comes back delivers a strike and then gets another weak groundout. He's still obviously upset when facing the number 9 hitter and walks him on 5 pitches. Mookie Betts gets a ground ball single and Sanchez looks absolutely lost. He gave up one legit hit (a 3-1 double to the gap) but he didn't get anything for swinging strikes (a few foul balls but not even one swing and miss. His strikeouts were looking). He faced 14 batters and he started 12 of them 1-0. My count was 27 balls and 23 strikes (I'd say that 16 of the balls were not even close). I really think it's fixable for him as it's probably release point and mental issues...mechanically he looks sound. But then again I'm not great at figuring out pitching mechanics. Will be interesting to look at the k-swinging rates once he hits AAA and we can see them tracked.

Why does everyone suddenly want to trade Sanchez?

The hive mentality is very real around here.

If a team out there views him as a top-25 prospect now is probably a good time to trade.

Fair enough. I still wouldn't trade Sanchez + for Samardzija as some have suggested.

It probably has something to do with everyone looking at the same results. K/BB issues in A-ball in 2012. K/BB issues last year in A+. K/BB issues this year in AA. He's 22 and in the high minors and having very serious issues, and ones that have plagued him since turning pro. If a team out there views him as a top-25 prospect now is probably a good time to trade.

Sanchize on top of what other prospects brainiac? You wanna empty the farm it seems. Awful armchair GM is awful.
