jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Anyone want to do a head to head today since tournaments never seem to fill?
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I play draftkings...is this better? I have a friend who won just over $1200 in baseball for $ 2 dollars...Personally I put in $50 and my current bank is $86.25

AlbertaFan Verified Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I've been playing on FD for about a year now, I'm profitable in MLB and NHL but NFL I just donate money every sunday. I play mostly GPP's and leagues 10-100 people.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Anyone want to play today?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Victiv:https://www.victiv.com/ref?code=iazxgns7bu Freerolls for Football(Thrusday and Sunday Start) and Hockey on Saturday. Guaranteed tourneys don't always get filled. Just signed up for this. Very generous welcome bonus. Thoughts on the site?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 VicTv is a pretty s***** site compared to FD. Currently in the top 10 in a 1700 person tourny so i'm not complaining yet. You get 6 free 5$ tickets and a 100% sign up bonus (cash out restricted) so it's probably worth the try.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Anyone want to play today on FD/DK/VicTV? Any amount of money. I'll even play for free if you want some practice.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I'm really enjoying this with the NHL. Playing for baseball with splits and park factors is going to be a blast I think. Can't wait for baseball season.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I'm up so far. I've been going cheap on D and loading up on goal-scorers on strong teams up front. What were your dumb plays?
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Entered some larger tourneys. One with a goalie not even playing. Haven't touched larger tournies. I'm just under 70% in 50/50s.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Looking forward to seeing how baseball plays. From what I can tell you could get guys like Van Slyke vs. LHP or Morneau in Coors for <4K last year. I wonder how many people would take advantage of plays like that.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 When I played last year baseball was really tough and playing those platoon hitters is the key. Have to pick wildcards if you want a chance to win anything big.

Van Slyke vs LHP i did very well with. He was always dirt cheap. The main thing with baseball is getting the SP pitcher right. Also you need to be able to edit your lineups. If your someone like me who's sometimes at work when the games start and it's a banned site you cant play on those days because of possible rain outs and guys taking a day off.

What % owned would a Van Slyke type typically be?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 What % owned would a Van Slyke type typically be? I just tried to look it up on some of my history on FD. It doesn't show the % owned in the history. Unless i'm doing something wrong. It was never that high though. Really you live and die with your starting pitcher. Park factors, team wRC+ and getting someone who misses bats and works deep into games and likely will get the win is really key. I know BigJohn/LTR get's alot of s*** around here because he can be trollish but he did win over 2000 FD games in a few months of an MLB season. So he's a good person to shoot ideas/strategy off of.

Your humility is a rare thing... don't change dude... My so-called trolling gets exaggerated in the off-season and when Jays are stinking it up... I actually created this account with the intention of remaining anonymous because I knew no good would come from it... too late!
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Looking in to creating an account for either FD or DK, but I am not entirely sure which one is better for me yet. I wanted to ask how people feel about the 10% rake? Do you feel like you can be profitable over time with this? If I'm not mistaken, if you play a head to head match for $5, the winner takes home $4? Obviously you need to win more than you lose to be profitable, around 53% i believe, but do you feel this takes away from the winnings quite a bit? I am experienced with vig, I've been betting online with Pinnacle for years. Just looking to try something new perhaps, test it out a little

It's fun if you're playing someone from this board but other then that the absolute best players on FD tend to create multiple H2H's. If you're looking to make a steady profit play the massive 50/50 leagues as the advertising for these kinda sites are crazy and you get a lot of dumb dumb's who sign for for the 100% sign up bonus (which they likely never get anyways). 10% rake is pretty industry standard on any type of betting website. It's just something you have to deal with. There's defenitly money to be made if you know what you're doing. It's also a fantastic form of entertainment. It's really fun.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Man, wished I'd gotten on this earlier.

Basically its the book keepers price of each bet. So when you see 2 even teams and the line is -110 for each team, you essentially are betting $11 to win $10. Ok thanks for the info though man. What it sounds like, there is more money to be made in the larger leagues. I was just worried there would be more sharks in those with automated mathematical systems leaving the standard player hoping for some good luck. Also, do you prefer FanDuel or DraftKings?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Man, wished I'd gotten on this earlier. I signed up in 2011 because in football they had freerolls pretty much every week. I actually started out on draftstreet which was bought by draftkings. I put money into the site at the start of last NFL season. It's been a blast. If you're looking for a sweet sign up bonus victiv is good. The site is s*****/glitchy though. Ive never withdrawn money yet too so i'm not sure what that is like. Even if you don't deposit you can get a couple free 5$ tix (cash out restricted). So there's no harm/risk signing up and testing it out.

I'm sure there are. But in a 50/50 with 1k people or whatever it doesn't matter if you have a bunch of sharps in it. There's enough dumb players where you can finish in the top 50% the majority of time. At the end of the day if you know your stuff you won't lose money and will have a blast playing. So it's worth it. DK and FD are probably the most 2 active sites so i guess it's just a personal preference on the scoring/lineup system. I started out with DK for real money but ive been playing FD more recently because people on this board seem to play it more.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Just started doing paid ones. Put in $10 and seeing how far that can take me. Would've made $5 on my $2 entry on the big NBA pool yesterday but I accidentally started Lowry even though he wasn't playing. Ugh. Doing the NHL one tonight. Lot of fun.

You might as well sign up victiv fantasy too you can play for free for real money to start off. It's pretty s***** compared to FD but you can't go wrong with a free sign up bonus and not having to deposit.

Lot of fun. 50/50s are the best way to build up your bankroll. I'm at like $170 on Fanduel now after starting the year with $10. I only set lineups a couple of times a week too.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Pro Line rake is WAY higher than 10% It's a good thing there are better options now

Starting with a 10$ bankroll is a little dumb just because if you're confident with your strategy you could lose it right away. Goodluck though, man! Hope you start off hot to sustain the random loses.
