  1. 1. Why is Casey Janssen injued?

    • The Baseball Gods are pissed that we didn't trade him in the offseason
    • The Baseball Gods want to give us memories of Frankie/Rauch/Cordero?
    • The Baseball Gods want us to feel stupid after suggesting that Santos should take over as closer?
    • Janssen has a bad back, duh. (You're lame)

Another thing, was Morrow really that terrible? I mean, I think the 4th was a tough inning for him, but I thought he had a decent game going. I just mention this because it seems some are saying the starting rotation is to blame for not going deeper into games, but how can they go longer in games if they don't get the chance? The one exception is Dickey who's given a longer leash. Anyway...

To be fair he was already at 95 pitches, wouldn't be able to go much longer. I think people are just frustrated with him because he has substantial talent when he's on. He's famous for his major meltdowns by the 4-6th innings, which kill his pitch counts. If he ever wants to be an ace he needs to start giving us 6+ innings.

I get that, no doubt. I was fine with him being pulled from the game yesterday, but he had a decent outing. I think we should remember that he only made 10 or so starts last year and he's likely rusty and will take some time to get back to his 2012 comfort zone, although I don't see the same stuff that he showed that year.

If he can stay healthy and pitch like a #3, that would be fine by me. Realistically though, he'll be a #4 as I just think the injuries have taken a toll on his stuff.

I was thinking "don't pull Morrow yet!" when he did it, but it may have been the right thing to do. 90, 100, 115 pitches is VERY different if we're talking Mark Buerhle instead of Brandon Morrow.

The pen has been so good until the last few games, they had the next day off, and of all people I would NEVER believe Loup would walk 3 guys in a row. Hopefully he has HIS one s***** appearance out of his stem now too.

This early in the year with guys like Morrow, Hutch and McGowan. You don't want to put them over the 100 pitch mark i am guessing give them a month or 2 then you can extend them to 100-110 pitches. I think it is too early in the year for them to be pushed.

Just my opinion though.

What I do not like is how we have been using the pen! If a starter is out after 5-6 why are not the first men up Redmond, Rogers and Happ ? Happ saved for blow out to be burned like in minny ! And we win the the next day! I believe not going to the long men has cost us at least two wins this season already!

I think Gibby jumps the gun on his glass house pitchers to fast as well. Challenge them he must or everytime they start to slip they learn nothing if they know the Calvary will arrive! Mental toughness is a thing! ie. see Ricky !

Another way in which the team shot itself in the foot yesterday was Reyes giving away an out with a baserunning blunder. I think Cabrera and Bautista followed up with walks, but EE struck out to end the inning. Now, maybe Cabrera and Bautista wouldn't have gotten on base, but you never know, they may have scored an extra run there. Who knows, with a 3-run lead, Gibbons may have given Morrow a longer leash. Anyway....

You might want to note that EE left 7 men on base yesterday. Gibbons seems oblivious to this. A random batting line up wouldn't be much worse then the line ups he comes up with some games.

Don't be stupid Lee_Marvin. Did you actually see EE's last AB... it was, to put it plainly, excellent.

I dunno. I'm anxious for Edwin to start producing too, but I'm cutting him lots of slack since he pretty much carried the offense on his back most of 2013.

We all are, but let's not forget he started slow last year, although a bit better than this year. I think if EE is the biggest worries offensively for this team, I think we'll take that. However, I think we're all more worried about Lawrie, 2B and injuries than we are about EE so we'll see what happens.

He did start slow though funny enough April was still his best month HR-wise... with 9.
