HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Eat your words!! But it's OK, we have all done it I remember when I used to call Eric Thames the Black Eric Hinske well, turned out he was worse..
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Santos is still filthy... and will absolutely own the league down the stretch for another team. The Blue Jays will pay for this.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 He's got the best slider in baseball, he needs to locate the fastball, and he could very well be as good as Kimbrel. Craig Kimbrel comparisons by Spanky lol
Nox Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 one of the best one's made on this site this year Good thing you're a numbers guy.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The double wasn't Santos' fault. Santos is still our best reliever IMO. Best reliever according to JFaS - not sure teams DFA their best relievers...
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Santos is healthy. Every game he pitches is raising his value. We have a stacked pen, let him pitch. After Janssen walks Santos is going to be our closer next year anyways. Santos is the Jays closer in 2015 according to Chappy!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 There is a massive difference between "filthy" and "effective". Tip your hat to ECJF everyone!

Nox Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Question: When healthy, was Sergio Santos good in 2013?
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Question: When healthy, was Sergio Santos good in 2013? Why bother? He was poor in 20 innings this year, so anyone who ever said he's a good pitcher should be mocked. The torontobluejays messageboards way.

The torontobluejays messageboards way. I should be happy. It's a small but bad move that makes it ever so slightly more likely AA gets fired. Which, the sooner the better. I would like to actively cheer for this team at some point again.

It's a bad move, especially if a team picks him up and he flourishes with them. You don't give up on electric arms like Santos for nothing.

The team will get nothing in return for him and Janssen, when they should have been traded for assets + $9 million in payroll space with which to improve the 2014 roster.

Nox Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Yes So then after 19 innings we're comfortable saying he's worse that Rob Rasmussen? That seems dubious. I'm not even saying Santos is a valuable asset on the whole. He's a pitcher. A relief pitcher. A relief pitcher with recent arm trouble. Staying healthy is a skill and he's probably not great at it. He's as volatile as it comes. If this somehow clears a bit of salary for a future move, ok. But if it's simply a case of them thinking Rasmussen will help them win more games well then ew.

You got this all wrong. You're supposed to trade assets for relievers. Duh.

Read my post above. I agree with what you said. Thinking that Rasmussen is more valuable to hold a roster spot makes me want to rage.

Yea, simultaneous post. On the same page. The really annoying part is this almost assuredly stems from some useless piece of s*** pro scout who looked at Santos' ERA before his last outing, and submitted a wildly biased report because of it. If scouts would leave the #s alone entirely, they'd be alot more effective.
