Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 @GrandesESPNRD Manny Ramírez: "José Bautista (@joeybats19) es mi pelotero favorito y creo que este año va a ser el JMV"
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I can't say Bautista shouldn't be considered the dark horse candidate...he's taking walks and hitting bombs. He's looking like the Bautista of old. Trout and Cabrera are the smart money, but maybe Bautista can hit 45+ bombs and throw his hat into the ring...

Most importantly would need to play 150+ games, and needs some luck like to have no one with a 12 WAR season (Trout) or anyone winning triple crowns (Cabrera) and such
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Ay dios mio, permite celebrar!. Manny esta tratando de ganarse un trabajo en el equipo de Toronto (Lind platoon partner) lol
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Is Manny broke or something? Why did he resort to going over to Taiwan (or wherever it was) to keep playing?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Is Manny broke or something? Why did he resort to going over to Taiwan (or wherever it was) to keep playing? Wants to regain the respect of his son. Or something
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Wants to regain the respect of his son. Or something So basically, he's broke.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Cause you know, those 160M contracts can't last a lifetime!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Wants to regain the respect of his son. Or something You're talking about a bad movie script.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 So basically, he's broke. I'd like to say it's not possible to be broke after making $206,827,769 in career earnings but sadly, we know that's not true
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 You're talking about a bad movie script. It's the reason he gave for trying to get back to MLB with the A's last year. Or O's. Or whoever the f*** he was with I forget.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. How ridiculous. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/11/the-red-sox-will-be-paying-manny-ramirez-until-2027/
baseballsss Verified Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 yah no kidding. Good for Manny though i would take that, always having income coming in plus they get pension when they retire i'm pretty sure.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 All it takes is one or two good handlers and these guys can salvage their lives. Allen Iverson once had a buddy who put away like 50M from a Reebok deal that he had way back and he'll end up getting that money when he turns 50. If that guy didn't do that for him... he'd be completely screwed. Edit: Sorry, it's 32M and he can't touch it until he's 55. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/02/report-allen-iverson-is-not-broke-because-a-friend-was-smart/

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Manny's not broke, he just lives and breathes baseball and doesn't want to retire. Playing baseball is the only thing he knows how to do.

As always with guys like him, it's interesting to think about - what would Manny's life have been like if he weren't so gifted at pounding the crap out of a little white ball?

He has the ability, thing is are the Jays in the play offs, it shouldn't be as much of a factor as it is, all depends on how you evaluate the slippery term "value" but that's likely what it comes down to.

Good point. A 1.100 OPS season with 50HR looks great, but if he's on a 4th place team some writers won't vote for him.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 he been on some meaningless forum full of wannabes and haters... oh wait... day just got depressing. lol Yeah he'd probably be Angrioter lol. Hungry for baseball but crap at playing it.
