BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Interesting lineup! Lind is 7 of 15 in AB and he sits against CC !
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Today lineup Melky Cabrera CF Maicer Izturis 2B Jose Bautista RF Edwin Encarnacion 1B Dioner Navarro DH Erik Kratz C Brett Lawrie 3B Moises Sierra LF Jonathan Diaz SS Outfield "D" not a priority today for Biggy, not that he has much choice. Rasmus and Lind on the bench is nice.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 No Goins, Rasmus or Lind in the lineup vs Sabbathia
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Outfield "D" not a priority today for Biggy, not that he has much choice. Rasmus and Lind on the bench is nice. Nice if close in the late innings vs bullpen yes
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Outfield "D" not a priority today for Biggy, not that he has much choice. Rasmus and Lind on the bench is nice. would have to see Lind's splits against CC in 2009. Lind is in that kind of form. if he hit CC then, he could have hit now, but I understand making sure they get all the right handed batters in. Sierra needed a start and Colby needed a day off. it's all good if Hutch can go 6-7 strong innings
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Did anybody see Sabbathia's first start? What was the matter with him? And was he bad in ST too?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Was it me or was the umpire squeezing Blue Jays pitchers and hitters, especially Cecil against Jeter. No surprise I guess, I'm sure he's gonna get even more calls as a retirement gift from umps.

I'm sure he'll play later on in the game if the game is tied or the Jays are leading.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Did anybody see Sabbathia's first start? What was the matter with him? And was he bad in ST too? K/BB 16/3 3 run in 21 innings WHIP 0.771 he was good in the spring.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Did anybody see Sabbathia's first start? What was the matter with him? And was he bad in ST too? Why couldn't he wait till today to suck? I'm sure he'll throw a gem today.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Plus, this probably ain't 2009 caliber CC going today... I think Lind could have dealt with it, but he has other bats he can use and then we have a bench that will be useful late in the game when they come back with a Rh pitcher.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Excited to see Kratz catch a full game though. This hints at them recognizing Kratz defensive abilities, at least vis-a-vis Navarro.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 So we're discussing today's game on yesterday's game thread because some virgin teenager played video games till 4 a.m. and got himself grounded? Alright, I guess it's early.

I'm sure he'll play later on in the game if the game is tied or the Jays are leading. if the jays are in the lead in the 7th inning, they have to bring in Rasmus and Goins and the D will help the pen hold on for a win.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 It's interesting Gibby is so afraid of CC, he had a horrible start last time and so far looks like a shell of his former self.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Interesting lineup! Lind is 7 of 15 in AB and he sits against CC ! lind is evolving as a hitter.....he should be in the lineup against CC.....he got a walk yesterday against a lefty laying off some tough pitches that used to get him. He's faced 2 lefties this year..a hit and a walk...

This offense looks bad right now, and they usually struggle against lefties. Hope they win today, 4-3 in the first 7 against the east, 4 on the road is a good start. Lind is good enough to stay in against a leftie, Hate gibbons lineups most of the time.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 It's interesting Gibby is so afraid of CC, he had a horrible start last time and so far looks like a shell of his former self. 1 start vs a career of amazing numbers... gee, which one should we take into account when going up against him? If CC is good, this is our best lineup against him. if CC is bad this lineup will knock the s*** out of him.... win win bro!!! LETS GO BLUE JAYS!!!

Hmmmmm interesting and never faced him last year I believe!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 K/BB 16/3 3 run in 21 innings WHIP 0.771 he was good in the spring. Very good secundary stuff and 88 mph Fastball
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Of course Lind is going to sit vs. a lefty. He sucks balls vs. L and 2 PA this season mean nothing. Lifetime 500 plus average against CC might suggest other wise ! Even based on a SSS . Since it was bad Lind even at the time! Not ....... " Angry Breard" Lind who's locked in
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Very good secundary stuff and 88 mph Fastball Sounds like buehrle and he just had a shutout! I'm not takin cc lightly
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Lifetime 500 plus average against CC might suggest other wise ! Even based on a SSS . Since it was bad Lind even at the time! Not ....... " Angry Breard" Lind who's locked in Lind talked about watching film of Robinson cano in the offseason. He talked about sitting back more against lefties. He's made adjustments and did well against lefties in the spring. Lind used to rely on his physical talents. He's now putting the work in mentally and physically to become a better hitter. He's just matured as a player.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 BAsed on 1 start??? It's 1 start and a big drop in velocity is what i'm focused at.
Flamingweazel Verified Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I don't buy this "Lind sucks against lefties". Hitters improve all the time, he has hit CC in the past and looks ot have a new approach, you dont know if you dont play him. Sitting him means he wont have an opportunity to show or improve against lefties. They need at bats.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Gibby made this mistake last year when Lind started hitting lhp well, but then went down the drains. I wouldn't have complained too much if Lind was in the lineup today, but I'm fine with giving the bench some at-bats.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 That sample is way too small, I would never look at a batters record vs. a specific pitcher unless they have over 500 PA against them. How many batters even get 500 plate appearances against one pitcher in even a lifetime? Lind since 2009 barley has not even batted 600 times against lefty pitching in that time! Let alone one guy! Sometimes stats be damned and you have to go with your gut.... That's why you play the games! As witnessed by the bonifacio thread last night and our bluejays win loss record of last year! In sim games we had a World Series. How'd that go for us ! Stats do not measure heart streaks or intangible's well is all.
