the defense was s***, uncharacteristic of lawrie and Idk what Rasmus was doing playing that shallow.

Rasmus had a few bonehead plays. You could see Gibbons trying to get his attention. I don't know why you'd play that shallow at the end of a game.

You play shallow when it's the 9th inning and you need to eliminate base hits (i.e. XBH mean little unless the score is such that an XBH can tie or win the game).

Lind looks like he packed on some meat. I figured the redneck goatee is used to mask a chubbier face but if he keeps hitting these long balls I could care less.

You play deep not shallow. Hence why its called no doubles defence

I use the facial hair for exactly this reason, but I'm 50 lol

Put Kratz at catcher and Navarro at DH. If I see this, I will be so f***ing happy

I think Navarro earned the C spot tomorrow and it's only fair to start Kratz at DH against LHP until he stops hitting every pitch he sees for a home run. Lind was a beast today but we might as well take advantage of Kratz against LHP while we have him.

Lawrie will get eaten up on the outside part of the plate with that stance and swing. Horrid.

Moogy your observations are horrible, Lawrie's going to have a huge season this year. You remind me of that idiot on the other site, "sempai",

who posted nonstop bs about Lawrie last year.

Not even close statistically speaking. Kershaw's curve had a 17.3% SwStr last year and 35.9% O-Swing. Santos slider CAREER 29.7% SwStr% and 49.1% O-Swing.

Come on lets be real here if Kershaw was posting stats like that as a starter he would be literally the Jesus of pitching. :P in fairness though Santos slider is pretty damn good statistically its funny I was looking at the same comparison when you posted.

From that conclussion though wouldn't you agree we need to see more pitches out of santos in order to draw a solid conclusion of his skills compared to his statistics? Also yes you are missing a big one, Mariano Riveras Cutter.

Kershaws curveball smashes it.

Yeah a couple of years ago... Baseball today did a thing that said Santos slider was the most unhittable pitch in baseball.

I have to admit, the thought of ending tonight 2-1 and guaranteeing no worse than split in Tampa makes me giddy. Would be so fantastic and is actually plausible. Bautista and Edwin need to get it done.

Why do you ask questions when you've already calculated your answer?

Rhetorical question generates discussion

Fair enough but it seems like he's not really interested in a discussion. He's already come up with a formula to answer his question better than any iddle discussion would and he will just refer to it if anyone says anything different.

Edwin looks terrible. All strikeouts and infield pop-ups

I know. Hopefully just a slow start to a good season.

Is there a filthier pitch than Santos' slider?

What bothers me, he gets into trouble and then only throws those sliders. How soon before his arm blows up with excessive use of them?

Posted
So it can't happen again?

Other then the batter he walked, he used his fastball to set up his slider effectively. He wasn't Greg maddux with his fastball command but it did the job. A hit should have never recorded against him.

Yup.

There's a difference between "knowing" the answer (at least, in his mind), and then just illustrating that for all and letting people talk about it ... and putting it out there as an alleged solicitation of opinions, only to tell people "no, this is the right answer."

It's the difference between being a reasonable investigator generating discussion and providing insight ... and attempting to be a know-it-all dick talking down to others.

I don't think he's analyzed social skills in his regression analyses.

Smh classic moogy

On the contrary, I'm of the mind that history often repeats itself, especially when there's a "trigger" that still exists.

Sliders are often murder on the arm. They're fabulous pitches. I loved mine (and it was friggin' awesome). But they are uberstressful on the arm.

Why do you give people so much ammunition???

Since I missed last nights game how did Hutch look last night. Didn't get through 6 but the line score did not look too bad.

Looked great

Topping out low 90's but great command

You think so? I thought his fastball command was the only thing lacking. Breaking ball command was on point though, the hitters chased it when he needed them to.

Averaged 91.4 on the fastball... exactly the same as he did in 2012.
