KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Isn't Kawasaki better at SS though? Idk. I guess you can mix and match them anyway you want because none of them can hit well. Either way, Drew must be signed if they intend on staying competitive beyond today. Kawaski is perfectly serviceable at shortstop, better than Izturis by far but at bets probably not much better than Reyes. Goins is almost assuredly a better shortstop than him but I guess the team is on pins and needles with Goins. It's so touch and go that he can be a productive major leaguer that they won't introduce any change to his routine at all. It's a shame because Goins's biggest value to the team is as a backup to Reyes not as a starting 2B.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 When in doubt, go for nostalgia. The organization's MO since Beeston reappeared. Doc is one of my favorite players ever, so I'll be glad to see him.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Confirmed - Halladay to throw out ceremonial first pitch

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I can't think of anyone better to throw out the first pitch. I love this. Epic. Never got to see Doc pitch live. Hopefully he gets an electric ovation.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I'm so f***ing jacked for this.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I love this. Epic. Never got to see Doc pitch live. Hopefully he gets an electric ovation. fans should show him a lot of respect. worth the price of admission just to see him there again. if I wasn't 5000km away I'd have a ticket
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I'm so f***ing jacked for this. add in the fact that McGowan makes his big come back as a starter and Tanaka is making his first MLB start and all in all it's a big night for TO baseball.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I love this. Epic. Never got to see Doc pitch live. Hopefully he gets an electric ovation. Plus, he'll get to wear a nice Jays jersey for a change. Can't wait to see that.

It's going to be electric. I hope they give him like a 5 minute standing ovation.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Best ovation for an ex player ever?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Best ovation for an ex player ever? Well considering a lot of the younger crowd never saw Alomar play, probably. Delgado's ovation when he came back as a Met was quite weak as I remember. A quick standing O but nothing special. Doc's should be crazy.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Yeah that would be cool Throw out first pitch to Navarro and blow him back? I think the honor to catch a pitch form Halladay is worth more than just a blow job in return. I guess we did, how silly of me. So putting d'Arnaud aside, it's Syndergaard vs Drabek and Gose. And Drabek was a better prospect at the time of the his trade than Syndergaard was at the time of his.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The RC is going to be a zoo tonight. I cannot focus on anything right now bc I'm so jacked.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Tell " Doc" to get off his ass Get on the weighted ball program and we will see him in July ! World Series Wink wink..... Say no more!

aselvana Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 does anybody know what time you should arrive at the ballpark for HO. I work downtown, so i was thinking 630ish. would i miss any festivities ?

Damn, people got attached to him (myself included) during his short time with Toronto.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Right now the Red Sox are having their ring ceremony, for last year's World Series victory. Right now the Jays are working on their next variation of their minute long celebratory HR handshake/dance. Take a week off, would you?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 It's going to be electric. I hope they give him like a 5 minute standing ovation. it should be to the point where it almost feels silly.... if you know what I mean. he's one of the greatest pitchers of this era and that's not just Toronto. he bled blue and white every day he was with the Jays.

I was at the series against the Phillies when he returned and he was getting one huge standing O after another. Now that he's come back as a Jay I expect it to be even better. Should be great to see.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Gates open at 5 for tonight btw.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 That's about right, maybe a quarter to. there's going to be 45000 other people trying to get in tonight. I'd go as early as you can. anything after 6 and you can forget getting any food or beer before the game. the lineups will be an hour long if you get there at 6.
