Caper Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Ok. I know I'm tempting fate here posting this.... especially considering we start the season in Tampa, where we could easily go 0-3.... But I am feeling a lot better about this team then I was a week ago. And I think Montreal did it for me..... yip meaningless spring training games had meaning for me. I'm liking that.... Mark Buehrle seems like he is in mid-season form and may not have the same disastrous April/ May he had last year. Yeah, he's not that great, but all I want is a good 7 innings where he keeps us in the game. I'm liking D-mac at number 5. Yeah is arm just might fall off mid-game... But I'm so glad it's not Rogers or Happ. I loved Morrow's start. Not completely awesome... but a huge step up from what he has been showing. Loved Sanchez... though I'm assuming his outing is scaring most others that think the Jays will bring him up to early. Love how Lind, Baustista, EE, Lawrie and Cabrera have performed thus far. And even though Goins went 1 for 5 in Montreal.... I liked most of his bats.... and gives me hope he won't be a complete black hole in the order.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Morrow and McGowan are two time bombs about to explode!
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Morrow and McGowan are two time bombs about to explode! I'm excited about Morrow after seeing him pitch yesterday, he looked like 2011 Morrow
Brenner Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I am more positive than I was recently. The injury risk on many of these guys is high and the depth is paper thin. That hasn't changed. But Hutch coming in and earning a spot in the rotation over guys like Happ/Rogers is a huge positive and Morrows last start reaffirms that the potential is there. A few weeks ago I wasn't sure that even if fully healthy this team would be good. Now I think if healthy they can be good. Its a slight upgrade and is still just a hope and prayer for a miracle healthy season from all the major piece, but I am saying there's a chance! We all know that if Sanchez got hit hard most everyone here would be down on him. So him pitching well twice against major league hitters has to be considered a positive. No way is he ready, but if he goes to AA and dominates over a 10-12 start span just maybe we do have something here.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Hope springs eternal. Pretty much. Even when they had s***** teams in the 2000s... I'd always get super optimistic right before the season started. I'm a die hard and I'll support this team until the day I die. Can't wait for tomorrow!

I'm always pretty apathetic but I love this team and I'll support them till the day I'm brutally murdered by Dogg (any day now). I can't say I'm optimistic about the team but I'll support them anyways.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I think this season all depends on whats available during the trade deadline.
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Having Hutch and McGowan in the rotation with Morrow looking pretty good has me feeling much more optimistic.
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 It just feels good to completely move on from last year and start a fresh season
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I'm going to have to record the game, driving out of town for the day. God damnit.
vic city Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 It just feels good to completely move on from last year and start a fresh season Pretty much hey? I think we'll be more competitive this year. The injuries last year were insane, that plus the fact that we had so many new faces. All of those new faces likely feel a lot more comfortable this 2nd time around. Plus you have to believe that the Jays all trained their asses off after getting embarrassed last year. I still don't see us being a playoff team, just the idea of the Jays in the playoffs seems unimaginable. But the beauty of opening day is that every team is tied for 1st. So I'm looking forward to tomorrow. It's so important that we build some momentum right off the hop...
bzapple Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Rationally no, I don't feel much different, but I do feel more blinded with optimism. It's a nice feeling.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 a starting staff where the youngest pitcher is 24 and the oldest is 28, with two young lefties in AAA (along with one old one). Two platoons to the bring the best out of four average but versatile players. They will struggle to score at times but damn right I'm excited for the season. GO RAYS!

TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Technically as the first member of the board...this is my home.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I'll bite. I have a bet going on at work that the Jays will finish better than the Phillies. As of right now I'm feeling pretty comfortable that those two dollars will be mine!
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 No reason to feel better or worse.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Why would you be a regular poster on a Jays board when your fave team is the Rays? Get that s*** outta here! So... Ban??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I've actually thought that if one of the mods, me or another, ever tried to ban BTS that we would get a cryptic message from the deep recesses of the internet saying "if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine"
bendera3 Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Phillies could be a total disaster this year Absolutely Jays have a better record 90% likely I'm going to really like watching the chaos that will be unleashed when the Phillies just implode. Amaro's head will be paraded around town.
vic city Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 So... Ban?? LOL that's not the point. You shouldn't have to ban BTS. He should ban himself, just like the rest of us to the Rays boards.
vic city Verified Member Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Don't ban me bro. I need an explanation here bro haha
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I need an explanation here bro haha His brain likes the Rays His heart is still with Toronto
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Don't ban me bro. LOL obv was joking, Obi Wan
