fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Not even lol. Loup > Krol, Tirado > Ray. Only better piece was Lambardozzi > Sierra, but they turned that into Gonzalez, who is below Sierra. whatthehell. Was every GM asleep for this? I'm surprised that the A's didn't swoop for him, they're deep in relief and AAAA OFers. Why didn't AA do something?? Why didn't Boston?? This is so weird

He even said so publicly and he almost never says stuff like that. He called Dombrowski and was told the Jays "didn't have what he was looking for."
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Which is ridiculous. I don't know what the Tigers saw in those guys but almost any team would have traded a better package than that. Including Toronto. It never made any sense. I really don't understand what Detroit is doing.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 This is why Trout should wait longer. No reason why he can't get 10-years 300M now. lol is there a chance for him to get a 15 year contract or something?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 So is signing players to play until they are 40 the new thing? Seems to be Pillow contracts for the best of the best of the best. Who's next?
8D Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 After 35 you should use viagra for good erection. Should have sent that memo over to the Angels' brass. Pujols was 35 when he signed that contract

Who's next? it will be interesting to see the back end of some of the insane contracts that have been handed out lately. Pujols will be the team mascot the last years of his contract. I think the same will happen if Cabrera gets this deal.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Jesus christ. I wonder what this does to Trout's $$$ demands Trout's agent:
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Dombrowski has lost it. Wtf?!?! Trade a quality #2 SP for scrap Trade Fielder to purge salary so you can extend Scherzer Fail to extend Scherzer so extend Cabrera long before you have to, to a contract that will be ugly in 5-6 years Decline 3M option on Veras, sign Joba Chamberlain for all of 500k less, weakening the bullpen Decide Joe Nathan will be worth 10M when he's 41 years old Dunno

They are still the best team in the AL IMO.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 It's subjective. Some people could probably find a pretty legit argument for the Angels even. Blah blah Pujols and Hamilton will bounce back, Weaver is still a #1, etc.

But their pitching will remain trash lol. Although good on them for picking up Tyler Skaggs for Trumbo lol

On another note who do you have as sleeper teams this year? I am picking the Royals to make some noise.

Jays are in that boat as well. if the jays pitching has a healthy year, the Jays could surprise. The D should be great as well as long as they are healthy.

I think the Rockies might pull something off this year, at least they might place 2nd in the West. Their offence is damn good, especially at Coors, mix that in with a good bullpen and all they need is maybe a breakout or two in their rotation (plus a healthy Brett Anderson) and they'll be good. I also think the Marlins will actually outperform their odds at the least. Decent lineup and I think that Yelich will have a great full year, and their rotations is sexy (Fernandez, Hendo, Turner, Eovaldi)
SAAviour Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I just looked up his age, for some reason I thought he was in his 70's, but he's only 57...I honestly thought he might be going senile.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Dombrowski has never been great. He's absolutely nailed a couple of franchise-altering trades, and has benefited from a weak division, very generous payroll, and a market that seems to be able to attract any player he wants. He reminds me of Brian Sabean in terms of being opportunistic and competent, but not brilliant by any means. Brian Sabean isn't smart (Zito. Pence trade and extent) but the dude know how to win.

They have a very good to great O if they can be healthy. I'm still a fan of Brett Anderson and hopefully he becomes a nice piece for them. In the NL they might be the best to beat the O/U total, but the Braves (under) is also intriguing.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Honestly it's all just speculation. Let's see how it plays out and pick a couple sleepers.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 If I was the Tigers right now I would be on the phone with AA, looking to trade Max Scherzer for Stroman and Sanchez... and maybe a couple of prospects in low A. And hopefully the phone keeps ringing.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 And hopefully the phone keeps ringing. Yep, I'll keep the potential 10's of millions in $ of surplus value that Stroman and Sanchez might provide, rather than trade for a guy who won't settle for less than 200M in contract talks.
