Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 This place is going to escalate quickly and I am ready with all caps
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I never once said Goins was more valuable than Dickey. But you say Dickey would be lucky to have an ERA under 6, which would make him useless. You seem to think Goins has some value, so its only logical for us to conclude that you believe Goins is more valuable than Dickey.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Ah, another BTS knob gobbler Lol, take a look in the mirror dude. You are judging Dickey on this one game, and just disregarding his previous 4 seasons. Last four seasons? Lol.. STFU you f***ing idiot. Why are people so glaringly stupid?
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I never once said Goins was more valuable than Dickey. Well since a starter with 6 ERA would give you negative value, I am assuming you think Goins is at bare minimum is replacement level. That would be mean Goins > Dickey in value
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 This clip represents this board quite well.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 You blatantly implied it. Goins was never a part of this conversation until you brought him up, so I don't know what you are talking about.
Rotator Verified Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Buck and Jerry trying to justify taking tohle over kratz because of what he means to dickey's pitching.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 My prediction for this board is come June regardless whether this team is doing good or bad someone is going to get stabbed with a trident.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I don't mean to pick on your specific observations, using anyone's observations over sound statistics is a recipe for disaster. It is nearly impossible to have unbiased observations. Not really, depends on the individual. By mid season if Goins is s***ing the bed, I'll be the first one there to get him out of here. I just see potential in the player, that's it. He has a decent enough swing to turn him into a league average player.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Last four seasons? Lol.. STFU you f***ing idiot. Why are people so glaringly stupid? You are the only stupid one in this argument Dickey's last 4 seasons WAR: 2010 - 3.6 2011 - 3.6 2012 - 5.8 2013 - 2.0 EDIT and if you want ERA: 2010 - 2.84 2011 - 3.28 2012 - 2.73 2013 - 4.21

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Wow, how many line drives right at people today?
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Last four seasons? Lol.. STFU you f***ing idiot. Why are people so glaringly stupid? haha, please tell me you're not such a bitter fan that you actually don't think Dickey's had strong stats the past 4 years.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 You are the only stupid one in this argument Dickey's last 4 seasons WAR: 2010 - 3.6 2011 - 3.6 2012 - 5.8 2013 - 2.0 So you expect an aging NL pitcher to put up those same numbers in the AL? Good God.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Is Brett Lawrie walk out music really Hansen do bop? lol that is great.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 haha, please tell me you're not such a bitter fan that you actually don't think Dickey's had strong stats the past 4 years. Alex?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 So you expect an aging NL pitcher to put up those same numbers in the AL? Good God. Ummm... I never said that. I'm showing you that Dickey has been really good for 4 years, because you seem to think he is a 1-year wonder. I expect Dickey to put up similar numbers to last season, 200 innings and around a 4 ERA.
Shogun89 Verified Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Ummm... I never said that. Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Alex? Wow you ARE f***ing retarded. If you think Dickey's 2010-2012 seasons are not above average to great, I have nothing left to say to you.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Alex? You are bordering on insufferable
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 And shipping a boatload of home runs. Ok... sure.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 You are the only stupid one in this argument Dickey's last 4 seasons WAR: 2010 - 3.6 2011 - 3.6 2012 - 5.8 2013 - 2.0 EDIT and if you want ERA: 2010 - 2.84 2011 - 3.28 2012 - 2.73 2013 - 4.21 Right. So his ERA in his first year in the AL was 4.21. Being one year older (39), he projects to have an ERA at or above 4.5. Anything else Einstein?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Mods can we ban Gruber92 for possessing ZERO baseball knowledge and for being an insufferable ass?
Shogun89 Verified Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 If computers existed when baseball was created and all the same information was available from games, there would be no such thing as pro scouts I believe. Scouting existed because that's the best they could do, people continue doing it because that's how it's always been done. DIPS theory existed way back when as well. The theory was that the pitcher shouldn't be hurt by his defense poor play. Like it or not, ERA uses DIPS ideology and it would have gone a lot further if we had the resources we had today. In many sports you still have to see how the players play off the ball off the camera with their positioning, runs, movements etc. maybe does not apply as much to baseball.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Right. So his ERA in his first year in the AL was 4.21. Being one year older (39), he projects to have an ERA at or above 4.5. Anything else Einstein? Care to show us your projection system Einstein?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Right. So his ERA in his first year in the AL was 4.21. Being one year older (39), he projects to have an ERA at or above 4.5. Anything else Einstein? Unless, perhaps, he was playing injured for part of 2013 and wasn't at his best What projection system says ERA jumps 0.3 runs from age 38 to age 39?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Wow you ARE f***ing retarded. If you think Dickey's 2010-2012 seasons are not above average to great, I have nothing left to say to you. My point is his stats over the past four years are IRRELEVANT and NL aided. Wow.
